However, to me George does surpass the more avent-garde/pop music that John turned out. John Lennon said this about abbey road " I think it's junk because it was just bits of songs thrown together...It was a competent album, like Rubber Soul. It was together in that way, but Abbey Road had no life in it. "

@chicagolegend that's kind of an amazing thing to say - consider both Here Comes the Sun and Something are both on the first side - two of the greatest songs and a testament to George. How about the amazing harmonies of Because and John's word play on Come Together?" The reason John didn't care much for Abbey Road is because it was more Paul's vision than his. As for overrated, don't get me started on White Album (an album in serious need of editing - Revolution 9 anyone?)

@jimraw1 Here comes the sun is indeed a great individual song, but overall the first half is week. Regarding Come Together, Lennon was actually sued for plagerism because he lifted lyrics from Chuck Berry's song.. And the whole "John didn't care about Abbey Road because it was Paul's vision is B.S. Sgt Peppers was mostly all Paul, and Lennon called that album their "Peak". Finally, White album is indeed overrated, but its still better than Abbey Road! I'll be here all day.

I remember my sister {now deceased} buying me this album as a birthday gift when it came out. The box was collapsed at the corners, and the print on the top was stained. I wore it out from playing it. Then seven years ago someone stole some of my album collection during an open house! How could my realtor not have seen it happen? I suspect he did it.

I wake up some mornings with the song All Things Must Pass in my mind. I had a dream maybe last week, that I was meeting with George Harrison and he was warning me to Beware of Sadness. This album helped me out of depression post-high school.

@txeire Yes txeire, very cool and ...wow, I lived on, and shook off the depression post-high school. Back then, it was a cassette tape, the album; it was my sister's and she said I could listen to it all I wanted to. It was in the early 70's so it was when the album came out.

And it still helps me out of a new depression as my favorite cat, and best pet friend, died last July, 2010 from a horrible death, cancer, which went undetected until it got to the point where he didn't even have enough time to get pain medication while getting ready to die. I got through the worst of my grieving, thought I would die of a broken heart, and he died in my arms making it worse.  I feel like he took my joy with him as he died in my arms.
