  • If you seriously have your knickers in a knot over that Jack Marx article you need to lighten up, if you can't handle a bit of shit stirring you're going to spend your whole life being pissed off at things. Speaking of shit stirring couldn't you just provide the full text in the description so we don't have to wait around reading it slowly lol

  • WHAT ?

  • I have moved to queensland and I am amazed of the unrelenting hatred that the Mur...media display towards the premier. The statesman like way she handled the twin crises of flood and cyclone was pretty impressive. It must however have annoyed them to have to grudgingly admit that she did well. Fortunately for them they have found an angle. A politician trying to be popular, unheard of!! The positive sideofr her action is that from now on we can expect to see more Auslan.

  • Thank you for making this video. I had been unaware of this situation, but now I have done some reading up on it, and I am writing to the Courier Mail to make a formal complaint about that Shane Doherty article "Aunty Val's signing gusto blew me away", February 06, 2011. How dare anyone write and publish an article mocking Auslan and the interpreters that worked hard to ensure that the Deaf community had equal access to vital information! I find it offensive and insulting, and I am disgusted.

  • I can't believe people are being critical of such an excellent choice by the Premier of Queensland to insure that critical information would reach as many of the people of Queensland as possible. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Like others, when I firstly saw it, I was very happy that they had the thought to include an interpreter so Deaf people have the same access to info as others.

    Nothing's wrong with it.

  • Right on! I had no idea that Anna Bligh was being accused of point scoring. The first time I saw an Auslan interpreter on the flood updates I wanted to applaud her. Anyone who says that this initiative is anything other that excellent is completely ignorant. People need to understand that Deaf people deserve to receive information in their own language where possible and that Auslan is a legitimate language that merits respect. Be smart, Australia.

  • I too applaud the Anna Bligh and the QLD Government. It is always good to see people get over their awkward feelings and allow the signng Deaf community to access important information in Real time. Might I also say GOOD JOB to the interpretters. From where I stand they did not miss a beat! And I was watching intently! As were my adult Deaf children.

  • Great...Im now thinking..why did THIS not happen during our Bushfire incident back in 2009... AND also where is the Auslan interpreter for the Western Australia news when they have their bushfires as well... I applaud Queensland Deaf Society for pushing and getting an auslan interpreter for the news. I have question myself why that did not happen for our Victoria Bushfires where there was a deaf girl who lost her house to the fire, fortunately she wasnt at her home but imagine that!

  • THUMBS UP VCOD CITIZENS TO INCLUDE ALL DEAF AUSTRALIANS TOO NOT JUST VICTORIA. VOTES TO ANNA BLIGH, VOTES TO AUSLAN INTERPRETERS

  • You said it. Thumbs up! :-)

  • Excellent and much needed.

I wholeheartedly endorse this statement and criticise the politicians for needing to use "ammo" against each other. What about stopping suing each other and slandering everything and actually WORKING TOGETHER FOR F**KING ONCE? This is one of the major reasons I gave up on voting - you're all full of shit.
