what is the difference between a society event and a social event?

Society event is one organised by the local goverment or council.

Social is a event someone/ or yourself within your circle of freinds attend and organize.

Society events are organised regularly, like weekly RPG sessions, socials happen every few weeks and tend to be one-offs, like the Christmas social last term.
