I is from the U.K. where we aren't really allowed to hunt anything,unless your rich, but we don't have wild boar (tho they're thinking of re-introducing them) so there isn't much to kill unless you enjoy killing small birds and animals. TBH I don't see the point of hunting unless your gonna eat it, and kill it cleanly
I dont kill anything unless its necessary, that comes with the whole buddhist thing, but at the same token, i respect others views. the animals are not endangered, they are good as food, they actually do hurt the ecosystems where they live like at Ft. Benning, GA. The only sad thing about this video is that it could have been a better shot. The only reason that boar is still moving is because it was gutshot, and thats no way to die for anything. It was very very good. A common misconception is that wild boar does not taste very good, but if they weigh less 150lbs they are just the same as store bought pork.
@KitMaxfield Excellent meat! I actually like it much better than store bought. It is so much leaner, making it a great addition to spaghetti, tacos, etc. that store bought pork would be far to greasy for.
@cliffcox66 Trichinosis is a serious concern, BUT is easily destroyed. It will be killed if the meat is held at a 140 degrees for a few minutes while cooking. It can also be killed if you freeze the meat at -10 below for a week or so. I cook it on low for around 8-10 hours, and the meat will fall off the bone. The meat can then be taken out of the pot, shredded with a fork and mix in your favorite bbq sauce. Throw that on a bun and grub down. Yummy hogs are under 150lbs.

After a long bow hunt, we brought the wild boar meat back with us (our boar was over 150lbs), my friend who was the most experienced in hunting did exactly the same thing, I couldn't understand why we didn't eat it right away, but he had the meat in the deep freezer for 10 days then we BBQ'd then got to eat it. I'll tell you, when the pig/boar is wild, its meat tastes a lot yummier.
@KitMaxfield And even better,wild game isn't fed hormones or other things that make for meat recalls.If you do your own butchering or trust a friend to do it,you have the most control over what is done to the meat that you worked so hard to earn & less worry about what happened to it out of your sight.

@tequese The fact of the matter is that the hog did not run but came close. Just about every hog I've encountered in the wild cut and ran regardless of size. If they're coming up on you, it means they're willing to fight. It looked like the hog was just checking out the cameraman but it should have cut and run like most hogs do. The cameraman had plenty to be afraid of regardless of how "lame" the charge was.

It was very very good. A common misconception is that wild boar does not taste very good, but if they weigh less 150lbs they are just the same as store bought pork.

@cliffcox66 Trichinosis is a serious concern, BUT is easily destroyed. It will be killed if the meat is held at a 140 degrees for a few minutes while cooking. It can also be killed if you freeze the meat at -10 below for a week or so. I cook it on low for around 8-10 hours, and the meat will fall off the bone. The meat can then be taken out of the pot, shredded with a fork and mix in your favorite bbq sauce. Throw that on a bun and grub down. Yummy hogs are under 150lbs.

After a long bow hunt, we brought the wild boar meat back with us (our boar was over 150lbs), my friend who was the most experienced in hunting did exactly the same thing, I couldn't understand why we didn't eat it right away, but he had the meat in the deep freezer for 10 days then we BBQ'd then got to eat it. I'll tell you, when the pig/boar is wild, its meat tastes a lot yummier.

@TheSolaceDream- Yes, hogs are non-native and invasive. Obama's working on a bill that will make it illegal for them to have more than one child per family. If they have more than one they'll have to pay a fine or put it up for adoption in a foreign country. I had a chat with a couple pigs recently and I was trying to explain the importance of using contraceptives. They said they tried it but it "didn't feel as good". I told them the alternative is 00 buck shot which would feel a lot worse.

Good kill, people don't understand how much of a nuisance these animals are, they tear up soil, crops, there very vicious animals. By tearing up plots of soil and crops there goes America getting there vegetables and other things farmers give us. There such a nuisance here In Oklahoma that you don't even need a tag or nothing. @tequese The fact of the matter is that the hog did not run but came close. Just about every hog I've encountered in the wild cut and ran regardless of size. If they're coming up on you, it means they're willing to fight. It looked like the hog was just checking out the cameraman but it should have cut and run like most hogs do. The cameraman had plenty to be afraid of regardless of how "lame" the charge was.

If he had any idea what sort of damage an angry hog was capable of he would not have laughed.
And the charge was still lame. I have had them charge like crazy you would swear they were trying to kill you. and thats after I have already shot them with a soft point 308. I even had one keep the chase when I sped of on a quad bike.
