  • Do your local fish store sell African Cichlid?

  • What are those striped cichlids? I want some!

  • Those are frontosa from Lake Tanganyika. Trade name is 'frontosa moba'.

  • Now this my friend has to be the most stunning frontosas ive seen

  • Thank you ! ^.^

  • dude,,, at my local store u can buy a young one about a month or two old for a couple bucks...

  • Different species of frontosa have their own values. Wild caught and tank breed also have different prize.

In some local fish store , they sell Cypho frontosa Burundi juvenile 2.5cm only cost $3 US. ^.^

  • Hi, are Cichilds fresh water fish? I'm thinking about getting some too.

  • Yes, they are fresh water. My fishes are from Lake Tanganyika of Africa .

  • your fronts are stunning. zaire blues?

  • Yes, they are zaire moba,

  • Where do you buy frontosa cichlids and how much do they cost?

  • I bought them from a local fish store which order African cichlid from Germany. And this Germany exporter collect wild caught fish from Africa Tanganyika lake.

    Large fishes prize around US$300.

  • holy smokes Wow thank you for the tip but at that kind of pricing I don't think I will be getting any. Also great fish and tank man

  • nice tank and nice fishes....check out my fish video plezz comment rate and subcribe 5*****

  • i am thinking of setting up a cichlid tank, is 125 litre o.k or is it too small, please reply thanks

  • a cichlid needs 2 gallons per 1 inch

  • Depends on what species you choose. Some of them are still fine living in a 125 lt tank. For examples , Paracyprichromis nigripinnis , julidochromis, those are smaller african cichlids.

  • depends on size of fish your getting number and species i got 80ltr tank with mainly south and central american cichlids killing parrot, green terror, convict, texas, jack dempsey, malawi(african cichlid), tiger oscar also got 2 cat fish and plec but all resonable small so all ok if you get small loads of space nice to get small then you get joys of watching them grow

  • That frontosa reminds me of the bee on bee movie! Maybe this time, this time, this time, this time!!! hahahaha

  • love it !.. have a look at my tank. tell me what ya think.

  • Like your cichlids! Happy New Year

  • love your tank and the Frontosas. check out mine! i also have a blog, mjncichlids. blogspot. com

  • seven stripe frontosas 4rm lake tanganyika.

  • hey what kind of chichlid is the big ones with stipes navy and white? nice tank (:

  • Those are African cichlid from Lake Tanganyika. The blue stripes are Frontosa from Moba.

  • hey..bro ...that is some nice colors on those Fron...wat kind of lighting are you using? have any update on those Fron. love to see what they look like now...i got a colony of zaire blue..but mine are nowhere near like urs....

  • I used Power glo and marine glo. I usually switch on Power glo. Those fronts have grown too large. My tank is only 48" , not enough room for them anymore. I sold them to a friend few months ago.

Zaire blue may be a little different from Moba. Moba got deeper purple blue than Zaire blue.

  • Nice! I tought my beta to eat out of my hand. But I don't think I teach my cichlids. Nice tank you have.

  • Thank you very much for your nice comment ^^

  • at :32 what is the blue fish that in the center of the frame???

  • Frontosa

  • i got 2 frontosas in my tank and they can get really big , great but expensive fish..

  • Wow your blue/white cichlids look like Marine fish real nice

  • That was great, although my video was pretty blocky. :^{ were those convicts? Good deal though. Impresed with the hand feed.

  • they look like marine fish to me lol! but they are freshwater! pretty fish you got there!

  • Thankyou ! I will keep posting video of my Tanganyika fish.

  • aww the big stripy one (sorry, don't know their latin names) was cute; kept going back and forth for ages :D

  • That one is frontosa. The species is Gibberosa Moba.

  • Where did you get so many Frontosa's?! Arent they kinda pricey? Can I have one lol.

  • I bought them in local fish store. The store is well known to import African fish from Germany.

  • they look really cool nice colours

  • Thanks for your watching and your nice comment. ^.^

  • Your chiclids are stunning :) i dont want my male chicid to get his bump lol he just had his first batch of fry :)

  • Congratulations to the spawning !

    Cheer !

  • Cichlid's aren't freshwater, are they?

  • yes, they are.

From Lake Malawi, well at least these are.

You can find cichlids pretty much anywhere, even in the U.S.

  • Thet are freshwater fishes.

  • they are freshwater

  • Stunning!

  • Thanks for your comment ^.^

  • can u let me know what lighting are u using? is that a coral life T5?

  • In the video, the lighting are T8 Power-glo .

  • are theese fish tropical or marine? there lovely, really want themm :)

  • They are fishes from Lake Tanganyika (Africa). Not marine fishes. ^.^

  • awesome 3d background, did you make it? i've been dying to get one of these, i'm considering making one.

  • That one is bought in LFS. But I recently made one using styoform and cement for my Malawi fish tank.

  • it looks awesome, but what is lfs? i just googled lfs aquarium and i didn't see anything with a store...

  • LFS = Local Fish Store

  • So you dont feed them the tropical flakes from the store? I have a new tank and I have 2 cichilds and 1 other african based fish. Last night 2 of them acted very funny. I guess they have to get use to the new tank. They seem to be a little better today. I have a 5 gallon tank. Can I add 1 more fish? Since they are so aggressive what other fish can stay with them? What about a frog?

  • u need a 10 gallon immediately

  • which fish do you think i should get. a zebra danio or a dwarf gourami.please answer

  • I tried that but ma fish liked ma fingers more than the food...funny frontosa

  • hah 0:38-0:56 the cichlid isnt sure if he should take a bite or not

  • Comment removed

  • In the video, I feed them frozen shrimp. But usually I feed dry food (pallets, flakes).Frontosa sometimes need time to settle in a new environment. They can reject eating as long as 3 weeks, that is my experience. However, the most important aspect besides eating, is they must swim well and not being chased by others. Well you can try some frozen shrimps or brine-shrimp to catch their appetite.

  • timmemz 950 litres is a great amount for the fish u want, with a tank that big ud aim at getting an average size of 20-30 cm fish, if i was you and i was gonna spend money of africans, id get a colony of frontosa like this vid.

  • nice color, what kind of salt are you adding

  • how much litres you have in your aquarium??

i'm gonna buy a aquarium of 950 litres are the frontosa ,fryeri ahli, is that possible?

  • cicids+ tetras= good or bad?

  • They don't live in the same parameter. African Cichlid live in alkaline water but tetra live in minor acid.

  • I wouldn't risk it but it really depends on what Cichlid you have. Usually with enough hiding spaces and space that Cichlids could call their own turf it might work and plus tetras are pretty fast, but the fast gets away the slow gets eaten.

Bolivian Rams are great, they stay small and get along with most community fishes.

  • can you keep a cichlith in a 10 gallon

  • it can be risky and i personally wouldnt do it get a 15 gallon minimum for one cichlid

  • A bigger tank is more suitable to keep frontosa. They require large liveing area since they can grow up to 30cM.

  • Small tank to keep cichlid have choices. For example, shell dwellers. Some of them only have 3-4CM .

  • amazing fronts.

  • Tks !

  • would malawi fish eat apple snails? ,thinking of geting some snails to keep my algae dwn off my rocks but been told they dnt eat much algae now lol

  • Snail will reproduce very fast and numerously. Try peco.

  • Gorgeous Cichlids !!!

  • Tks for you watching !

  • that big blue fish with white strips the one that was thinking of geting the food what kind is he and what type of cichlids u use lake malawi? or lake tanganyika?

    or do u mix?

  • Those blue/white strips fishes are frontonsa (moba). I keep only Tanganyika fish in this tank

  • That blue one is frontosa (moba) from lake Tanganyika. I don't mix malawi and tanganyika fish in one tank because they have different behaviour.

  • you said you use powerglow and marineglo. do you use both at the same time? if not which light is on during this video? very nice fish.

  • Usually I use either one, but in this video I switched on both.

  • nice fronts btw courcarre

  • how many african cichlids can i have in a 10 gallon tank?

  • It depends on what kind of fish u choose. But I advise u smaller fishes because your tank space is not suitable for large African cichlid. A group of shell dwellers (10 pcs) and several Calvus are good for your tank.

  • 10gallons is even a little smaller for shellies... I would go up more in tank size. Why not go bigger? Tanks are pretty cheap these days, I've seen a few 55gallons for 30 bucks on craigslist.

  • tiny tank maybe some corydoras some danios neons and a siemese fighting fish but definatly no cichlids

  • just because he doesn't move the camera in the video doesn't mean the tanks only that size. I'm sure it's much larger than shown.

  • How old are your frontosas?

  • Those measured 5-6 " is around 3 to 4 yrs old,
