but it costs a ton more. I personally needed to go ATi because I have a crossfire motherboard that doesn't do SLI and I don't like "dual GPU cards" because of heat issues and late driver compatibility stuff so I went with the 4890 and I'm really happy with it.

The 4890 beats the GTX 260 core 216 in most tests by about 5% or so, so it's not as fast as some Nvidia cards but I paid $160 for it on eBay and it plays everything maxed, even GTA IV at 1600 x 1200 with view distance at 35. I'll get 2 ;)

well nice overclock but one of the main reasons i got an i7 is because i need a future proof and upgradable computer. for example in say 3 years the duo's might not be good enough if more games take advantage of the quad cores. then upgrading you'd need the processor, a new motherboard, ddr3 ram (unless you already have it, but i7s require triple-channel), possibly a new graphics card if youre upgrading anyway.

All commercial motherboards are compatible with all forms of GDDR, unless the board is incompatible with an individual cards system requirements(varied).

GDDR stands for Graphics Double Data Rate, it is the type of memory specifically designed for GPU's. All GPU's today use a form of GDDR.

GDDR3 is not to be confused with DDR3, which is system RAM, and currently only compatible with higher-end motherboards(recommended chipsets being the Intel X58, and AMD 790GX and 790FX).

Hey what motherboard do you have ? I will tell you if its compatible, but DDR3 and GDDR3 are 2 different thinks, DDR3 is the RAM that you put in your motherboard and GDDR3 is the RAM is in your video card so unless your motherboard is 5-6 years old it should work. You should look for Pci Express x16, if that exist in your motherboard then yes its compatible. If its Pci Express 2.0 x16 its even better.

nope sorry it wont work cause of different memory sizes and different versions (G80=GTS 640mb and G92=8800GTS 512). Depending on the PSU quality, 500w should be fine for one card but for two cards you need 600w or higher.
