I don't know why, but the "Light" soundtrack kind of remindes me of "The Rising" soundtrack form SGA's pilot episode. Anyway, this soundtrack is yet another master piece from Mr. Joel Goldsmith.

If they hadn't spent Season 1 going back to Earth visiting their families doing the ridiculous lesbian bit, and didn't have that annoying actress (Chloe) on the show - then I guarentee you it would not have been cancelled at the end of Season 2.
Some people probably stopped watching because of how lame and awkward Chloe made the show.
I now know how my friends who loved Firefly felt. This series is my all-time favorite science fiction show. It is a shame it was cancelled. Perhaps someday, it can live again, on a channel which values quality over raw viewership. Or perhaps, it could become a web series, available solely via download or ... Netflix. (hey, Netflix... psst. buy the rights, produce it)

A very bad thing right now is that viewers never know who would get the ad revenue for a click, because I'd be happy to click on an interesting ad if I knew that revenue from it went to MGM to produce SGU again (wouldn't want an uploader to profit from this, given that MGM owns this content).

breathtaking and possibly the best TV sci-fi score ever created. How Joel Goldsmith is not composing music for big budget Hollywood movies is quite beyond me! Still, the longer he can stay on Stargate Universe, the better. It doesn't get much better than this.

@YourafucksiclE If you want a more dramatic bit of music, try "Return To Destiny", which is from the same episode. They're both equally amazing, incredibly moving and just downright spectacular. Unfortunately, you might not find a good-quality version until the soundtrack CD is released; I've been trying on youtube, but no joy yet. Good luck anyway.

@RealDougal Agreed. I loved the old stargate series and wish they were still going. In my eyes SGU isn't better or worse, just different and I think it's a difference that stargate needed. The plot is so much more dramatic and I feel the characters have been developed in greater detail. It's also just the way they shoot everything and tell the story, a fresh start. I love it!

Universe is a show about human beings, most people don't like that.

@nageljeuk So in reality, most people want a show where soldiers and scientists constantly find themselves in the same situations over and over again, only to consistently do the impossible without consequence? That is precisely why both SGU and Battlestar Galactica surpass SG1 and SGA. Heroes don't exist in reality, because if there is someone who can be called one, he or she still has the same human flaws that we all have. SG1 and SGA ignored that, which is why I dislike them more every day.

Apparently most series writers also like working with actual human beings more as it's apparently less restrictive. Like, Roddenberry set up the rule that everyone aboard the enterprise had to be friends and have no conflicts, writers said they find that hard and restrictive to work with, DS9 had no such rule.

I whish he'd use more ethnics instruments instead of his old synth but Goldsmith has done a gread job on SGU. I think it's better than his work on SGA where he used the same music over and over but the show didn't really help since it was an action "popcorn" scifi.
Now he's got the chance to really shine, like the SG directors (Mikita and DeLuise) who did a great job so far on SGU.

The music for this show is far more epic and breathtaking than any of the previous stargate shows. I really wish they would release a season one album of all the songs.
I loved SG-1 but never cared so much for the music, because let's face it the SG-1 score is pretty dull. But the same man does a really awesome job in SGU. I LOVE the SGU score, it's so different from what we know from the other Stargate shows.

I can't wait for stand-alone music tracks to be available for download somewhere, or an OST. This series music fits it like a glove. I really like SGU music its really nice and sometimes it reminds me of Blade Runner and Mass Effect music and has nice synthesizer sounds. It's more epic than the old stargate soundtracks.
I especially love the bit at 2:19. It's a recurring theme in SGU, and it gives me chills every time I hear it. Those notes evoke feelings of lonliness and isolation, and a touch of desperation, perfectly appropriate for the unwilling crew of the Destiny. It's hauntingly beautiful. I hope it's not discarded after the first series, assuming SGU is greenlit for a second.

It's part of what keeps me watching. I don't know if it will last ten seasons, but I hope that it at least lasts for four or five. I've been worried about this show in particular, seeing as it seems to have vast hordes of haters, so many of them fans of SGA who are still sore about it being cancelled...
@thepratingknave I thought I would care more about SGA being cancelled, but for some reason I just don't. After watching the premiere of SGU I realised it was a good thing it was cancelled to make way for SGU. If they had found a way to both continue SGA and start SGU at the same time, that would have been even better, but obviously, they found no solution...

I whish he'd use more ethnics instruments instead of his old synth but Goldsmith has done a gread job on SGU. I think it's better than his work on SGA where he used the same music over and over but the show didn't really help since it was an action "popcorn" scifi.
Now he's got the chance to really shine, like the SG directors (Mikita and DeLuise) who did a great job so far on SGU.

Amazing soundtrack and episode Light! From a Stargate SG-1& Atlantis fan I thought this was an incredible way to change the "power supply" story from Atlantis! The Ancients are so COOL! :) Great Video btw.

The music for this show is far more epic and breathtaking than any of the previous stargate shows. I really wish they would release a season one album of all the songs.

I loved SG-1 but never cared so much for the music, because let's face it the SG-1 score is pretty dull. But the same man does a really awesome job in SGU. I LOVE the SGU score, it's so different from what we know from the other Stargate shows.

OMG I *SO* LOVE this music! Ever since I watched this episode! This has been the stand out so far - I've watched it so many times especially for the scenes where the Destiny is dipping into the sun they are just waiting to die.

Man, you are just too awesome for words <3 I've been trying to find stand-alone versions of the songs so far in SG:U. I can't wait for stand-alone music tracks to be available for download somewhere, or an OST. This series music fits it like a glove. Very emotional instruments, even though its very synth heavy (not that thats a bad thing <3)

I enjoyed the music for BSG but somehow this music is more moving.
Look forward to picking up the SGU soundtrack when I can afford it.

Man...I have played this track so many times...Balozniek...you...are the man. At :36 secs is when this track becomes...BRILLIANT. The emotion that vibes bursts through, and doesn't let go. Despair, Hope...incredible. NICE WORK, DADDY O :D

I really like SGU music its really nice and sometimes it reminds me of Blade Runner and Mass Effect music and has nice synthesizer sounds. It's more epic than the old stargate soundtracks.

I especially love the bit at 2:19. It's a recurring theme in SGU, and it gives me chills every time I hear it. Those notes evoke feelings of lonliness and isolation, and a touch of desperation, perfectly appropriate for the unwilling crew of the Destiny. It's hauntingly beautiful. I hope it's not discarded after the first series, assuming SGU is greenlit for a second.
This show has grabbed me and it won't let go. Wouldn't want it to anyway.

Very well said! I also think that those same feelings could apply to the Destiny herself; alone, empty, isolated, forgotten, for millions of years. I can barely comprehend that.
The moment I heard that theme in the 1st episode it instantly cemented the ship as a character in its own right, which just adds another layer to the whole show.
Incredible piece of music. One of the best of the franchise, IMHO.

Same for me. It also creates this atmosphere and feeling for me of something truly ancient, in this case destiny. Yes, that's it. It feels ancient and old like the universe itself.

@RealDougal It'll certainly be interesting to see where they take it after the second season. I'm really not sure where the series is going - but for me, that's a good thing. I like the mystery. It's part of what keeps me watching. I don't know if it will last ten seasons, but I hope that it at least lasts for four or five. I've been worried about this show in particular, seeing as it seems to have vast hordes of haters, so many of them fans of SGA who are still sore about it being cancelled...

@thepratingknave I thought I would care more about SGA being cancelled, but for some reason I just don't. After watching the premiere of SGU I realised it was a good thing it was cancelled to make way for SGU. If they had found a way to both continue SGA and start SGU at the same time, that would have been even better, but obviously, they found no solution...
