  • Make sure you only eat organic bananas nowadays... they are heavily heavily sprayed with pesticides. I cannot no longer eat a regular banana. Tears my digestive system up. But I can eat several organic in a smoothie, no problem. Just google the banana pesticide contamination going on

  • Do you have any advice about choosing a whey-based protein powder? There are so many different kinds, and I don't know what to look for. Unfortunately, all the websites I've found about how to choose a protein supplement is geared toward muscle building and not toward treating depression.

  • a banana a day keeps the psychiatrist away

  • cashew nuts are full of tryptophan

  • you might as well just eat chicken - it has protein and ALOT of tryptophan in it. :)

  • where did the term going bananas come from... ? i think there is some relevance in the content of your message, tell me if you understand.

  • I love blending a banana with whey...... ? whats gonna happen to me?

  • What a clever video. I tale protien and bananas everyday and it has helped my depression, although i also workout, which boosts endorphins. I have bi-polar, so it really helps. x

  • depression is a complex inflammatory disorder. The biochemical imbalances are due to environmental/gneetic interactions. It is important to understand the patient. Which environmental (Diet, nutrients, stress, xenobiotic exposure and physical activity) are interacting with genes to create underlying biochemical imbalances? What are the chemical mediatros involved? Meds are never the way, they only mask the symtpoms (if at all) You dont seem to understand the environmental/gene interaction

  • That's why I'm depressed...I'm not eating bananas everyday. I'm going to make it a goal to eat two bananas a day with oatmeal, I have to make this a habit because I suffered depression for 3 years.

I believe it...you are what you eat.

  • Yes, you did quote it correctly. I am glad you liked it; as a person who has dealt with depression since the age of 13 I feel I know a thing or two and I am more than happy to offer advice if I can. Thank you for the post & compliment. God bless and be well. :)

  • DAYOOOO

  • Bare in mind that we are made up of 3 components - Mind, Body & Spirit...we must take care of all 3 in order to be healthy. Especially when dealing with a mental illness such as depression that has no known cure. Body: healthy diet, exercise &/or medication. Mind: counseling or some sort of self help. Spiritual: Meditation &/or prayer. None of these things will cure depression but it certainly will help you get a handle on it and make life a lot easier.

  • Good positive thoughts. I liked when you said, "Mind, Body & Spirit...We must take care of all 3 in order to be healthy. " I used it as a quote: on Twitter & Facebook, hope that's alright :)

  • thanx....g8 info.

  • thanx....g8 info

  • Bananas contain B6 which allows tryptophan to be converted to serotonin.

  • @AxRhea88 You really don't have a clue what your talking about! Whey protein has amino acids in it which create serotonin from tryptophan in it, and bananas too have serotonin and vitamin B6 which help it cross the blood brain barrier.

Tons of studies have concluded that both whey protein and bananas and many other foods that contain tryptophan in it help tremendously with anxiety and depression.

Check your facts before espousing your ignorance...hope this enlightens you.

  • Ate a banana everyday for 6 years now...Breakfast: I eat peanut butter, 2 bananas, and a cup of Green tea everyday for breakfast to get me going throughout the day and I must say that I felt a lot better...the saying is true that you're what you eat, so eat healthy you guys.

  • To keep anxiety and depression at bay.. hang out with friends. Weight lift and run. Eat healthy and stay away from things that could trigger negative thoughts and feelings. Of course you will not accomplish this completely but it will certainly help. Oh, and SLEEP and takes naps, and work to keep your mind off your problems and to be around people. And yeh.. a banana a day.

  • @buopesado lol! word!

  • yeah this true i def feel happier with these foods the bad news is ye will depress the people around u with yr farts..haha

  • meh i alrdy posted this ,, how about taking whey protein bannana flavour does that work with same results ?

  • okey i got a question so this video says its required to take a bannana and some whey protein for depression ... how about only taking whey protein bannana flaviour ?

  • Haha wow. Is that why I have a positive outlook on things now? Funny how my breakfest consist of Bananas and A little bit of whey protein and then I see this. Funny how life works.

  • This is true ........for me at least .I've dealed with depression for a good part of my life and whey protein has made a world of difference. I would tell anyone to give it a try 2-3, 20-30 gram servings between meals.

  • 5 stars!

  • Whey protein & bananas will make you fart. (even worse than you already do)

  • I just started lifting and drinking whey protein shakes, I must say my attitude has improved 100%! After a 30-35 gram Whey shake I feel full and full is happy.

Great Vid... this is the truth here, plain and simple!

  • I agree. I found this out by accident when I was going through a very difficult time. Had me back on track, a little lighter and healthier. Now I know there was actually science behind it.

  • Even better Whey protein bananas

and a Laurel and Hardy movie

  • Good point, if you have depresion stuffing your mounth with whey and bananas probably want get you out of it but might help you not get there in the first place.

  • this is funny, i mix my post workout protein: 24g protein ON choc mint, 1x banana, 1x tsp honey = doesnt taste as nice as vanilla protein, but does the job!

  • Good info on bannannas. God designed the human body to live off of a natural diet(bannanas, fish, berries, spinach etc.). I just ate 3 bannanas and i feel "supa strait".

  • Note to all people suffering from depression: Eat bananas and drink whey protein. I do like this video. I didn't know Whey protein would help with mood-boosting. Thanks. :)
