I don't know about breaking an ankle, but I can say that these cleats really dig in and never, NEVER slip. You can always tell where you've been, thay leave a clear imprint.
They're not for competition. They're an effort to see how much grip can be achieved. I can tell you that if the ground is soft enough to get penetration, they don't slip.
@wellheeled88 even if the ground is not soft you will get penetration and a great grip with those sharp metal-tipped studs when you put a 400 lbs rugby player into those boots :-)
