Yes i would do the same. I would cut back on defence expenditure. This costs the governemt money, which they are alble to spend elsewhere in the economy, creating a mulitplier affect, easing the economy and will help to get out of a recession as it would be part of fiscal measures, thus by the goverment spending. If the government were smart they should remove troops from iraq and iran and elsewhere, and use that money to create jobs, which will help us out a recession.

2) The tax burden is already on those who earn less than $250,000/year
3) Business owners pay taxes because they use public services more than everyday people. Roads, railways, shipping ways, public electricity, a good military, protection of property laws and legal enforcement of business transactions, etc. You pay for government services just like any private one.
I love how the U.S. has continued to protect Japan with our military for free since World War 2. Japan has no military expenses (because they have no military), so the Japanese government pours all of its money into research and development for sony/honda/toyota/etc. and then those companies slaughter American companies that aren't being funded by the American govt. because the American govt. would rather drain the federal budget building our military and waging pointless wars.

If this recession does in fact have something to do with the war and people want out....can't people just overthrow the government? What if say.......3 million people just gather around the white house demanding to stop the war and if he doesnt respond then everyone tears apart the whitehouse and government buildings. If Canada and US is a democracy....then how come our words are never heard and politicians never keep their word. If i was PM, i'd immediately pull the troops and end this war.

Yes i would do the same. I would cut back on defence expenditure. This costs the governemt money, which they are alble to spend elsewhere in the economy, creating a mulitplier affect, easing the economy and will help to get out of a recession as it would be part of fiscal measures, thus by the goverment spending. If the government were smart they should remove troops from iraq and iran and elsewhere, and use that money to create jobs, which will help us out a recession.

To all dear Americans, maybe its really time to start thinking about a social democracy. Communism doesn´t work because there´s no incentive as the governemnt gives you everything. Pure capitalism has resulted in extreme greed.
Although I´m a US citizen I have lived overseas and will tell you that certain European nations have come the closest to achieving ideal societies which provide their citizens a balance in their lives. This will be the only way to achieve long term stability for all.

Last time I checked America had a free capitalist economy.
The housing market tanked because everyone thought they could "flip" houses and messed with the balance of things. Gas prices rose because OPEC wanted to be jerks and limit production. And the economy bombed not only because of gas and housing but also because people were using all their money to pay credit cards rather than "stimulate" the economy. So If you want someone to blame all you need to do is look in a mirror.

2) The tax burden is already on those who earn less than $250,000/year
3) Business owners pay taxes because they use public services more than everyday people. Roads, railways, shipping ways, public electricity, a good military, protection of property laws and legal enforcement of business transactions, etc. You pay for government services just like any private one.

I love how the U.S. has continued to protect Japan with our military for free since World War 2. Japan has no military expenses (because they have no military), so the Japanese government pours all of its money into research and development for sony/honda/toyota/etc. and then those companies slaughter American companies that aren't being funded by the American govt. because the American govt. would rather drain the federal budget building our military and waging pointless wars.

It's called deflation and it's a serious sign of problems yet to come. The Christmas shopping season will be the key here. If it's as bad as predicted, then the retail sector will follow in the deflationary cycle and there will be a mass round of layoffs in that sector which could ride unemployment to near double-digits. I hope this shopping season is not as bad as predicted.

I agree with Corghtoga unions are one of the examples that can cause company choas, example Pan Am and Eastern Airlines wanted more benefit, more money they end up sucide their career and largest airliners in the toliet. Example Boeing had several weeks strikes by unions, they lost millions of dollars daily because they did not finish production on time. Many airliners gave up went for other contractors. American companies using other countries to avoid Unions regulations. They got tired.

Ever since GWB declared that making hamburgers falls under manufacturing, (and therefore part of the GDP, altho I have yet to hear about hamburger exports) Amurka has been heading inexorably toward this sad state. We have been in a recession for at least 6 months. All the arguing about what a recession is and when we are 'officially' in one is mere semantics. Fiddling while Rome burns. Amurka produces little more than paper nowadays. Just look at Detroit, our former center of manufacturing.

US Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told a congressional committee overnight that a recession in the first half of 2008 was possible, although the US economy was likely to rebound in the second half because of the Fed's aggressive rate cuts in the last year. This is the first time Bernanke has publicly raised the prospect of a recession.

Good pacing, good sound quality with very good background music to support the voice overs. The text has clear information that sets the tone of this well done propaganda. But the video and still vignettes are the highlight. B+ to A.

Read further down. So basicly you support a man who voted to take away your civil liberties with the USA Patriot act and who has shown up to the senate over 100 times but always decided not to vote. You support a man who went to a ultra racist church for 20 years. When asked if he heard the statements by his preacher he first said no then said yes. The man is only viable if you want atleast 2-3 more years of amrican death in Iraq after all he votes to keep funding the war.
