I like the strat itself but learning from goody... is hard. His macro is somewhat shabby... this build isnt even done crisply... look at how he cancels the techlab... its like trying to learn from jesus how to work on water...

you can get a Tank and siege tech while you have 2 banshees and cloaking to stop any banling busts or roach attacks

good strat, but i can assure you that this won't work past master level. you had a really poor defense the whole time, the problem in tvz rush is that you can't tech rush at all because the zerg can either 7roach rushes or bling bust and both these rush are reaelly hard to stop, so its pretty much a gamble if you're going for this kind of all-in. i' a huge fan of cheeses and all-ins myself don't get me wrong, but past master you can't all-ins zergs anymore. toss n terr u can, but not zerg

cloak then killing overseers with vikings...nice! opponent just spent 100 gas for nothing... this is probably the best picked replay to cast for banshee rush... transition to thor makes it no cheese at all

@rootmuppet Spot on. Day9 + Force is synergy. Also watch livestreams to watch what the pros are actually doing in a game. There is surprisingly little overlap between these 3 things.

This Zerg player apparently did not scout. He didn't even build queens, but had a lair. Hellions (I know the Terran only built 1) mean that banshees are probably on the way. This replay is not indicative of a good build. Go watch DAY9 for real SC2 game casting.

best protoss army mix vs mid-late game banshee / thor / marine / raven army? only thing you have that doesn't get murdeder by thors are immortals, which can taken out in seconds by banshee. also keeping an observer alive to take the banshee out is almost impossible with scans / ravens. fuck, i hate banshee stealth, it's so bull shit to deal with.

@mrvolax I have never played against this build because I am terran, but Day 9 many times says the best counter to Harassment units is early pressure. get that 4 gate up early and then work on some observers and then push out before he can get a large amount of banshees and thors.

Fast roach with no expo beats this. I tried a 2 port banshee against Zerg in Blistering Sands and they roach busted my back door. Even though I had complete vision of what was happening, I didn't have my banshees out and marines inside bunkers vs roaches, roaches still won outright.

i would've really liked to have seen the mutas come out so the thors could have had more purpose.

i generally follow a similar build in one of my TvZ strategies going thor/marine with medivac. it can be really effective in the early mid-game. on top of that i don't see nearly as many hellion drops nowadays. they're so strong, people really should use them more, and get that infernal pre-igniter upgrade.

as protoss how do you deal with a group of 10 banshee late game? they move fairly fast, have stealth, can fly and do insane damage. you can't cannon every expansion + cannons are just flat out useless vs terran ground forces. stralkers get smashed by banshees, unless you commit your whole army to chasing them around.

@mrvolax Phenoixs. Much faster then banshees, banshees cant attck them and they do extra damage to light units, and attck very fast, cheers :)

@mrvolax Blink stalkers are pretty good against them, just keep an observer following the banshees around. If you aren't confident with microing stalkers then just go phoenixes as luckycandy suggested. You can also do harass with phoenixes by lifting the Terran's siege tanks and workers up and then killing them so even after the terran switches from banshees to something else, the phoenixes are still useful.
