I now think these ewoks are just like going czary going "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!" caltupluting their explosive dirt and rock bombs at the AT-AT walkers sceaming "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!"
This pair is really annoying. They act like they're husband and wife, but I dont even think they're married. At least I couldn't find any info. If you check their website it is so cheesy, they are trying to make advertise their personalities not their music. Also this reminded me of Yoko Ono and John Lennon
Their (un-)marital status is on their website, clearly and cogently for all to read. I'm sorry that their personalities offend you for some reason. Perhaps you'd be happier listening to playbacks of your own arrangements on Sibelius.
You should pay royalties to the Star Wars Franchise and then sell your compositions in a CD. I would buy it. Of Course, it would take an acquired taste to appreciate the mechanics of the piano fingering. There aren't many people that play the piano where I am. And I don't play that well myself.
I want to be a professional page turner when I grow up and I've been practicing page turning for years--just so you know, I'm attending a page turning master class next week. Those page turners were not in sync and made countless mistakes. It just draws too much negative energy from the artistry.
I wonder if Prokofieff for his whole production has earned as much money as John Williams for this march. Some artists are remarkably talented for marketing.
@BonnieBitch Before I even read your comment I thought "Prokofiev." Actually, I thought of Sarcasms before I thought of Three Oranges. But yeah definitely a lot of Oranges in there. Of course, it's hard not to love these two people. And one can understand doing whatever one must to bring classical music to a wider audience.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ok so I love the Star Wars music and I love hearing it on Piano, but I really don't enjoy the Anderson and Roe performances of it. They don't put any life into it, it's just sheet music getting played to them. If you listen to the ragtime Star Wars stuff by Keeper1st you will see what Star Wars should be played like.
No No No John Williams composed that and his original piano book 40$ is the same its called parade of the ewoks they are just playing his composition!!!
1st impression was virtuos, 2nd moving and in this one you show your skills in arrangement. At 1st sight I thought "this is just the original piano arrangement on the JW sheetbook" but then I observed how you split the parts between the two pianos.
Great work, waiting for the 4th impression, I can't find it on your channel!
You wrote this in less than a week? Wow. I'm impressed. See, silly me didn't realize how much I wanted to pursue piano until a little more than seven years at the instrument (I'm a college sophomore and I've been playing 9 1/2 years). I'm in love with it now -- but I feel like if I had just "woken up" a bit earlier, things would be different. Oh, well. Life expectancy nowadays is, what, 74 years? I've still got a bit of time haha.
I really applaud what you're doing. Good luck in the future!
The circumstances prevented us from memorizing the piece in time. Sorry! We arranged AND learned this movement in less than a week (we were given minimal time to fill in as composers and performers for John Williams for an event the night before). We tend to value spontaneity and the unexpected over excessive polish. In other words, we're willing to sacrifice memory in favor of raw energy and adrenaline. Besides, the time saved by NOT memorizing can be better spent on creating new projects.
@gnanderson WOW. a week is really good. I know what u mean too I spent 9 months polishing a Rachmoninoff duet with a friend for a big competition but i was so sick of it by the time we performed it.
@GhibliOriginals If I'm not mistaken it allows the sound to carry better, as the sound can escape through the top versus being contained inside the piano (i'm no expert though, there may be another reason I don't know)
@GhibliOriginals Opening the top projects the sound, much like some people will place a cupped hand around their ear to inject sounds... or around their mouths when they mean to yell to help project the sound in one particular direction. Think of sound as water that floats and travels, and then you'll see the way the top directs the sound in a direction.
That all depends on our personal definitions of 'arrangement'. Whether it is an arrangement of not though, I don't see how it really matters, as they are all works, and we should put off these controversal debates and try to enjoy the piece to its full extent.
--The description of this impression clearly states that it is an *arrangement* of the "March of the Ewoks" from the sixth Star Wars film. The impression is from a larger work (our "Star Wars Fantasy," most of which is in fact composed by us and based on material by John Williams.--
After reading this I simply don't understand why some people are still arguing this is not an arrangement of the "March of the Ewoks".
i agree, i wouldn't go as far to say that you composed this. I've noticed you guys do arranging, sure you fill out the pieces in your own arrangement, but you should really aim for some of your own original melodies if you actually want to say you've composed something. As fellow musician's you should fully understand the difference between compose and arrange. Anyway, besides that fact you played amazing as usual! so props!
There is a fine but definite difference between an "arrangement" and what Anderson and Roe are doing here.
Rather than rearrange or add to already existing material, they have taken thematic motifs and motives from John William's original scores and completely rewritten them. In musical terms, these fantasies are not arrangements.
The description of this impression clearly states that it is an *arrangement* of the "March of the Ewoks" from the sixth Star Wars film. The impression is from a larger work (our "Star Wars Fantasy," most of which is in fact composed by us and based on material by John Williams.
but I believe in both your abilities and respect you as musicians, and as people to (The moon light sonata video was hilarious!) I apologize if i came off as a snob! if you see me in a video you can tell I'm not:P
Lypur, as a fellow musician, you should remember that music is not black and white, composed or arranged. The Rite of Spring is based on Russian folk tunes and Bach's cantatas are based on Lutheran hymns; they are, in a sense, arrangements. Composers of "Variations on a Theme by _____" arrange themes multiple times.
Mozart routinely borrowed Alberti's signature accompanimental figure. Brahms's first symphony borrows from Beethoven's 9th and his 1st piano sonata borrows from Beethoven's Op. 106. As Brahms said himself, "Any ass can see that." The point is: all music resides somewhere between original and derived. We are proud of our source material and we are proud of the new music we have created, whether you call it composed or arranged.
Oh don't get me wrong, I loved it, I was merely agreeing with the other guy's point.
I know you guys are very talented, I was hoping my comment could be used positively to spur both of you into composing a completely original piece (I know musically that is very hard considering almost everything has been done)
to the contrary, I think there is enough novelty and originality for this to be considered a composition. Nobody argues that Rachmaninov's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" is an "arrangement".
Yes, but I think there's quite a bit more change there. Rachman took something just two "verses" long really and expanded it and combined it with Dies Irae, etc... This is a fairly accurate orchestra transcription. I would say the first 2 Star Wars Fantasies are quite different than anything John Williams put together, so they could be "composed", but this one seems like it is just March of the Ewoks (albeit a very impressive rendition).
It's composed because they composed it. they give credit for the original melody, but rightfully claim artistic credit for their own, original take on the melody.

At the opening of this piece, I can hear the "ooOOOOooo" similar to the one in the original. How was this attained? I think of four possibilities:
1) Two notes, legato, on the piano, the second of which is too quiet to hear the attack, making it feel slurred.
2) One of you is singing it.
3) Someone off-stage is using an object to make the sound.
4) It's my imagination.
