The black music industry has always been a small world and it is hard to find a young female artist Patti has not met in her lifetime. She makes it her business to be a musical mother to young girls coming up in R&B. As you might have guessed Aaliyah created "If Your Girl Only Knew" as her own version of Patti's "If You Only Knew".

@LaBelleOfTheBall2 I didn't realise how significant an artist Aaliyah was until 2000. before that i just wanted to look like her, dress like her, i loved her uniqueness and the way she embraced 'difference' she was always doing her OWN thing. But b4 then I hadn't really analysed just why i felt connected to her, why she impacted on me.
