  • Awesome catch!

  • @tpe18509 Thanks!

  • it would have been cool if they put an SD80 on the front

  • Only twelve hours! That must be a new on-time record! Thats wayyy to early for Amtrak!

    *nice vid*

  • @p42Amtrak83 Haha I know right? Thanks man!

  • Seeing 2 NS locos reminds me of some pictures that I've seen when Southern Railway offered passenger service up until the 1960s in this area.

  • neat catch!

  • @sethamtrak Thanks!

  • lucky catch!

  • Do they usually do this for late capitol limited's?

  • @amtrak710123 No, on the day of this video the leading Amtrak engine got smashed up so they needed some extra power.

  • fake

  • @Glendale1901 What in the world are you talking about?

  • Cool video with those freight engines pulling a passenger train. They were flying along.

  • Thanks! I will probably never see anything like it again, so I'm glad I caught it on video.

  • Thats a rare consist with the NS engines leading.

  • It was pretty neat! I was really surprised as I saw the train come into view.

  • Nice! I'll bet there were alot of angry people on there. I was going to ride the California Zephyr just for fun between Fraser, CO and Denver, CO but it was 12 hrs late as well. Good thing we had a car and we were just going to ride it for fun.

  • The passengers were probably upset, but my brother and I were happy because normally Amtrak passes through our town in the middle of the night. It is rare for us to see one here.

I'm sure it is a lot of fun to ride the California Zephyr! Too bad it was late for you though. I have rode the Capitol Limited and Lake Shore Limited, but someday I would like to ride Amtrak out west .

  • A late Amtrak, suprising.

    ;D

  • About 12 hours too! =)

    Thanks for the comment!

  • lot of views

  • Yes, I am suprised that there is this many in only 5 days.

  • Hey. I was on that train. It hit a tow truck in Goshen Indiana at 10:30pm. Apparently the 2 people in the truck tried to go around the gates, and the train was moving 70-80 mph. Once the it hit the truck, it came to a stop, and the engineer cut power, and could smell gas. There was a fire truck, an ambulance, and 4 police cars. I was in a sleeper. It was hard to go asleep. The front engine was removed for investigation. And they got NS engines. 2 were killed in truck,2 hospital, engine/scratches

  • Thanks for the info!

Did you see me filming the train?

  • I think so. I was looking out a window and saw you filming, along with other people in PA.

    Thanks!

If there was only a few scratches on the engine, they must have made them sturdier. All that night, there were investigating the cars, in order to decide of it's safe to move the train, along with the removal of the wreckage of the truck. I was going to NYC, the to Florida, and then to Michigan. I live in Minneapolis MN.

  • Nice vid, that is the latest I have ever seen an Amtrak train, but I like that catch with the NS engines leading plus a cool crew.

  • Thanks! I was surprised when I saw the Amtrak cars behind the NS engines!

  • I remember in 2007 our amtrak was late into Birmingham going to New Orleans we were being pulled by a slow NS sd 40, it barely made it to 65mph. That was not a good trip.

  • That trip does not sound like much fun at all!

My family just rode the Lake Shore Limited and Capitol Limited. They were both running an hour late. Not too bad when you consider that some Amtraks are over ten hours late.

  • IT wasn't the train kept stopping in the middle of the route to be serviced, kept shutting off and those amfleets were ragedy, when it rained, water was faliing between some of the cars when walking through. Yep I know what you mean and hour is not bad compared to those delays.

  • It has been past me and it was leading still.

  • OK. I was just curious if they switched engines during the trip or just kept the NS ones the whole way.

  • NS leading thats different.

  • It sure was! I'll probably never see something like that again.

  • Yeah he is heading my way, in a little bit. He is estimated to get into Pittsburgh at 4:43pm.

  • When and if you see it, can you tell me if the NS engines are still leading it.

  • Thanks! I couldn't believe that it was this late!
