I've got an old iPod that came with all these VW commercial songs on it...sadly it crashed and I had to reformat it. All I can remember is "Da Da Da" and "Jung at Heart"...anyone know of others?
The commercial that made me want a Jetta. Bought one about a month later. 12 years and a 135K miles later, I still have my GLS 2.0 and she stills looks fantastic.
What a great decade for everything. Nothing overwhelmingly devastating happened. Commercials, music, movies and TV were never better...Some of you kids seriously missed out on an amazing decade. Kids have no idea what quality really is anymore. Case in point: Justin Bieber and Ke Dollar Sign Ha.
I will never forget the first time i saw this commercial, i told myself i had to get that car! and a few months later i did, a black 2000 jetta. IMO the jetta 4 was the best looking jetta ever!!!! Its funny to see her pop in the casatte in....wow how long ago was that.!!
i remember seeing this commercial for the first time i just had to keep on looping it over and over again. then again this morning i was just tooling around on the computer and it just came to mind again and im moved again like i was on day one. anyone know which ad agency put this one together?
I obsessed on this commercial and even recorded the audio and looped it onto a cassette. I contacted VW about it and they sent me a CD with the song. I still have it on my computer. Thanks for posting.
Ha. Yes it did... No in-dash CD player was available on the early model of this car. A CD Changer was available for the trunk. Still this car cost $17,225.
Still I lusted after this car for a really long time.
More info: It refers to the newsgroup alt.tv.commercials for info on the soundtrack's composer, Peter DuCharme of Somerville, Massachusetts. His assignment was to write the music after the ad was shot, at 94 beats a minute, the pace of a brisk walk. He was paid $25,000. According to the shoot's creative director, a "click track" was used on the set to keep everyone in sync.
You are correct, not only was a click track used, the windshield wiper was a metronome, and the temperature inside of the car was over 98 degrees.(uugh)
The car was towed around the french quarter on a rig while 2 guys squirted water out of bug sprayers over the camera to simulate rain.
Great commercial from the mid-90's. Terrible video quality. I guess I'll have to go back and look through my old tapes to find a higher resolution copy. By the way, is that Sarah Clarke (Agent Nina Myers) of "24" fame?
Yes, that is Sarah Clarke in her first acting role. Also apologies for the vid quality, I found this on some dinky site and it was the best available.
CHLOE GET ME THE LOCATION OF THAT VEHICLE! NINA IS GETTING AWAY!

It's called 'Jung at Heart'. I was commissioned by VW's ad agency to compose it. After the commercial ran they asked me to make a longer version.
Youtube doesn't allow posting links so google this for a high quality file of the long version.

i remember seeing this ad for the first time - it was moving...for a commercial
i still wasn't going out to buy a VW
mainly because i'd already had one and every time i went to do a brake job or a bearing swap:
I needed VW tool# this and VW tool# that - much more insidious than the already ridiculous prices charged for after market parts. @#$#& VW!
Much more effective now as reference for synchronicity.
