I think that if you train (endurance or power) at alternate days (one day training and the next rest) is the best solution.
I go running twice or three times a week, and in the weekend I go trekking or skiing or cycling. The thing is, for me, if you train today, don't train tomorrow.
This guy is headed in the right direction but has underestimated the amount of rest that is needed. It takes 3 to 6 days for a natural athlete to recover from a hard weight-training workout - seriously.
i've had overtraining syndrome for almost 2 years now... one year was spent trying to work through it, the second year was spent doing nothing, total rest...
i'm on a overtrained state, i noticed this yesterday when i weight myself, i lost 2 pounds and i'm not fat at all... i was training 5 times a week in a row,
people learn from me and this guy, REST is super important, even more important than training.
Each muscle need 48 hours to recover, yes, but if you train heavy like me (1RM, 2RM) you need more 72 hours.
hope my mistake help someone. It's really horrible to see yourself losing weight knowing that is not fat... but muscle T_T
@tlast2012 dude Im in the exactly same situation. I used to do spin bike 1 hour everyday, run 7 km in the weekend, and weightlifting 4 times week. I just blew up, feeling constantly sleepy, lack of will to go to the gym, and even "other" problems if you know what I mean. Gonna take some rest now.
A lot of years ago, my father was a bricklayer and at that time, he looked like a professional bodybuilder ^^ But doing work like that does not cause "overtraining" because you don't focus on training one muscle with focus and intensity I think.
lol "looking like a professional bodybuilder" you will get a little bit bigger muscles but your dilusional if you think a old guy lifting 20 pound stones is gona get as big as a bodybuilder using testosterone hgh and insulin .
heres my guess he was ripped "low bodyfat" and had visual muscles not big but visual and for a avrage man thats big but dont overestimate lol
@CRUSADERE LoL at replying to a post which is 6 months old ^^ But anyway, that's what I meant with "big". Of course he was no steroid monster, but he was pretty big for a natural guy ^^
this is rubbish. bodybuilder do train 6 day a week. They got their routine. They work on different muscle group on each other day, even on upper body. For example mon, wed, fri on chest, legs, and tue thru and sat on lats, shoulder, and etc. so each of the muscle group rest on each day. however for fat burn lose, go for low weight high reps, for muscle gain go for middle weight and middle reps, for gain power, go for high weight and low reps.It all depend your go.
I just want to say thanks a lot, I'd been training incorrectly off and on since i was 18 and I'm 24 now. This made total sense once I heard you explain why we actually begin to loose muscle, I've gone through exactly this cycle more times than I can remember now. Once I saw all your videos I began to do upper body one day and lower body the next and rest every sunday and the results have been incredible.
good advice , but you are not 100% correct. you can workout 5-6 times a day. Most bodybuilders workout mon-fri. you could take off 2days in a row, you could workout upper body 3 days in a row. an example , monday CHEST, tuesday Back, Wednesday Legs, thursday shoulders and friday ARMS. Just because you workout chest today doesn't mean you must do lower body tommorrow. thats bs. the only thing you can't do is workout chest today and work it out again 2 days later. you must give days in between...

use bcaa before and after training or eat food that contains esencial amino acids and you wont loose muscle do it every time before cardio !
