This is a bit of a disaster, though the instrumental but around 3.00 isn't as badly mangled as the vocals. Still, Nick Cave is pretty exceptional, and there are few out there that can muster up the same swampy, gothic, bluesy, punky shout-cum-drawl that he can. AM are a good band, but shouldn't try RRH for a while...10yrs of booze, cigarettes and heroin would help get the vocals right...

It happens with most covers. this one is pretty good, but a lot of covers really don't do the song justice. I bet a lot of the Cave fans feel that way, so they're entitled to complain if they want.
