You inspire me to draw with charcoal again! Personally I think pencil is easier to handle, but charcoal seems more creative (I don't know why) It's really admirable that you can talk and draw at the same time, I can never do that! I wish you the best with your arts.
I thought he drew the her eyes best, i agree with some other comments, That he did not get a true likeness of her, And that the quality of the video needed to be better, Still, A nice effort and some good advice.
Thank you Lon for these wonderful drawings of pencils and charcoal. I would love to see more of your charcoal and pencil drawings in youtube. Hope you can upload more. Thanks again Lon. God Bless You
Some very good advice but in order to get as good as Lon you need to learn your tones and mentally visualise them then you need to know where they go for a certain pose and fixed light position. Then you can bang them in like Lon but it is very controlled.
the guy is trying to teach a crowd, talk to a camera AND draw with as much attention as possible.
that is beyond difficult....artist need 2 things, attention to the object and the drawing they are creating. why dont you haters, try doing this, with many other eyes plus a camera crew and the thought that a few hundred thousand will be watching...im sure you would freeze, cry and do a runner!!
I love the negative comments from people on this man's ability. Yes, he's not the greatest out there, but i have yet to see any of you critical assholes post vids of your artistic ability, or lack thereof, on Youtube.
Eyes too big nose too short, though not necessary the exact copy of the subject, still the drawing needs to catch the spirit of the subject which this drawing didn't.
Lon...that is fantastic....you do beautiful work! I draw portraits when the mood strikes me...I have always loved doing them....but I get really upset if they do not come perfect. I am a perfectionist. I would love to be as good as you and sell my work. Any tips? Kudos...Fantastic!!
Lon...as a wildlife illustrator, your drawings have really opened a new 'can of worms' for me. I'm enjoying drawing people as well, which has expanded my talents as an artist.
Having said that, you also re-ignited a love for charcoal.
Good work old man,I was looking for a medium that would work for me an think this will work well,to do sketch portraits,landscapes,etc... thank you sir.Love your work.
i like the way u use charcole, i cant handle it, i love painting there is so much more control in it i find, but i love to watch u work its so interesting
Thank you Lon; for sharing these videos with everyone. All your drawings are beatiful. You make it look so easy to create professional quality work. You inspired me to take up drawing as a second hobby. It's a great creative outlet to releave stress. The tips you give are excellent, you should really be proud of yourself for helping people. Thanks and God bless!
I think her nose eye proportion wasn't 90 degrees but 85 nd mouth probably smaller. Just a technical opinion, but it's a great jot in the overview! Congratulations.
Thanks for the correction. Next time I am producing a TV series, teaching a lesson, directing three cameras and drawing a portrait all at the same time, I will keep that in mind.
That is the best thing I have seen in. I love using charcoal. I like the fact it smudges , cos thats the effect I always seem to get with pencil too! Tahh man if that guy was about 40 years younger I would have a ,massive crush on him XD
Besides the lovely drawing, I'm shocked that he can talk and draw at the same time! That's like using both sides of the brain at the same time. Quite a talent. And watching this video has really helped me.
Dude...that's kooleos! Especially the hair. although, I don't like using charcoal cuz it smugges and sometimes that's frustrating. He's a good artist though.

The face is too wide and not long enough. Look at the distance from the brow to the hair line and cheek to nose.
SolidSnake2345 7 months ago
@SolidSnake2345 i agree. the hair is too out as well. but he draws beautifully

The model's nose is wider, and the shadow line should be closer to her right eye.
