You might be surprised to realize that all diesels since 2008 have been labelled "low emissions vehicles" by the EPA. Also look up BANKS 1,000hp smokeless diesel drag truck. They have pushed clean diesel tech to a new level.

Does this thing sound like a truck when it goes WOT? I know the duramax rev's up to about 3000 rpms, then just sort of hangs there, but you're still accelerating hard, shifts and drops down 400 rpms and repeat lol. @brobinson75 the concept of a diesel in a muscle car is converting the torque in the gearbox, a diesel engine with lots of torque can accelerate as fast as a gasoline engine aslong as the gear ratios are set up good.

The duramax is a poorly "DESIGNED" jap diesel. They don't last what so ever. I have done many motor swaps myself idc if this guy did a motor swap, its what motor he decided to use. For power they don't make anymore if not less then the cummins or powerstroke. Its a good idea putting a diesel in a car with the torque and hp its practicaly unstoppable. but choosing the duramax to be the diesel in the car bad idea it's now only good for stuff like this "display".

Ford 6.0 Powerstrokes are one of the most problematic diesel engines ever put on the market. If I wanted to I could keep my shop in business working on those alone. I haven't ever run into any serious issues with Duramaxes yet, other than the odd injector, but that was on trucks pushing 300000 kms.

It's a Duramax. Runs on biodiesel (one article I read mentioned the great smell of french fries once the tire smoke cleared.)
Makes over 1000ft/lbs of torque, owner has been known to autocross it.

My dad own's a #'s matching LS5 454 1972 original ss only 5000 made that year 90 000 original miles on it. Just the motor rebuilt bottom bored, cammed and up. My dad would roll in a grave if i would ever do that to his classic. I own a LBZ chev, Duramax/Allison #1!!!!!

@brobinson75 the concept of a diesel in a muscle car is converting the torque in the gearbox, a diesel engine with lots of torque can accelerate as fast as a gasoline engine aslong as the gear ratios are set up good.
Hope that clears up some things

actually there is also a chevy 383, its a 350 block machined to fit a 400 crank, aka "stroker" motor, just like a 502 or 572 is a stroker motor... they produce stupid ass amounts of torque if done right...as for the rest of your comment. your entitled to your opinion, but all your hatred towards the car probably just means that your jealous that you yourself dont have a car that nice.

The duramax is a poorly "DESIGNED" jap diesel. They don't last what so ever. I have done many motor swaps myself idc if this guy did a motor swap, its what motor he decided to use. For power they don't make anymore if not less then the cummins or powerstroke. Its a good idea putting a diesel in a car with the torque and hp its practicaly unstoppable. but choosing the duramax to be the diesel in the car bad idea it's now only good for stuff like this "display".

the duramax is a fantastic engine. all my friends have had their's since the early 2000's and none of them have had issues. if you keep it well maintained they last forever.

ya would use that stick since I drive a powerstroke. these are not fantastic engines unless you just drive them up and down the road then they may last a little longer. and if you have friends that have never had problems with the duramax its luck they don't make it past 150,000 without a problem thats if they can make it to 150k.

No I was raised on chevy became the ford guy on my own I still love the good ole chevy muscle but there diesel weak. found the real diesel is cummins and powerstroke. Ford 6.0 Powerstrokes are one of the most problematic diesel engines ever put on the market. If I wanted to I could keep my shop in business working on those alone. I haven't ever run into any serious issues with Duramaxes yet, other than the odd injector, but that was on trucks pushing 300000 kms.
