  • Try 5 hours without my wife's love...

  • worlds largest shit pile!

  • Useful as a reef, but sad to watch her sink, regardless.

  • very interesting video thanks

  • Has it really been almost 6 years since that thing was sunk. It seems like just 2 or 3.

  • good funky beat and magnificent underwater filming.

  • TRUCK LAGOON in Micronesia is STILL THE BEST WRECK DIVING spot in the WORLD....you USAmericans ALWAYS forget... the USA is not THE WORLD...its just a PART of it !!! Pensacola is ok but by far not the best...not even mentioned for REAL Divers under the 5 best spots ...like Micronesia, Maledives, Great Barrier Reef Australia, Sardine Run Durban SA .....etc etc anyway Vid is ok but come down with NO 1

  • NEW video site--> gomusictv.info

  • - Cue porn music

    - Enter Demetri

    - aaand ACTION! - "time to make some fuck!"

  • It would be a one time shot in the arm $ wise to sell it for scrap. Sink it as an artificial reef and it pays off for years in tourist $ and making up for loss of natural reefs.

  • basic OW HERE:(

  • Stop with that gay pop ups noob. You ruin the whole video.

  • My buddy and I dove the Oriskany 2 months after she was sunk. It was a cool dive but not as good as the hype in the video. And for the idiots arguing about littering the ocean floor.... we've been making artificial reefs with sunken ships for decades. Yes, its good for the environment and yes as long as they strip all the HAZMAT out of them.

  • 911 feet long ? M'kay...

  • What people don't understand on here is how, not only does this actually harbour MORE life than if it were not there, but it also is a technique used by biologists worldwide. Maybe a huge aircraft carrier is crazier than usual, but I've dived sites where biologists have sunken fishing trawlers, small ferries, old and disused liveaboards etc.

It DOES help the life down there, who thrive on it.

  • dude its not a wreck they did that on purpose i watched a thin on the discovery channel they sunk it for that reason, instead of scrapping it

  • I don't like it.. diving shipwrecks is a really cool and good experience.. but I don't really like purposely sinking them. But that's just our world... guess it makes it okay to sink a ship and ruin the habitat there as long as it puts money in their pockets huh.. I hope they sunk it and it landed on a fortune of gold!!!! They just lost that gold..haha

  • @3DG71646 If it weren't sunk intentionally, it would've been sold for scrap. Being underwater, it creates a fantastic habit to many marine creatures. This doesn't litter the Gulf, it helps create additional life. Just a cursory look at the video and that would become apparent.

  • @DMBIrish What you said does make sense. Your talking to a guy who knows nothing about the oceans habitat. I wish I did know more! I'm actually moving to Pensacola around November. I'll hopefully be studying the ocean in college! I wan't to work in the ocean! I especially want to dive and explore! One question, does it cost money to dive this spot?

  • it creates habitat,,,what better use than to use a tool of war for lfe,

  • @3DG71646 Before they sink it, they strip it of any biohazardous material (fuel tanks, ammunition, etc...) Trust me, those fucks over at PETA would pop a nut if any little bit of harmful things didnt come off the ship. There are so many ridiculus things that must be done before they sink the ship, it benefits the marine habitat. And actually, those who sink LOSE a fortune of gold due to all of the checks and regulations they must pay for, NOT gain.

  • @3DG71646 "ruin the habitat," are you kidding? Ship wrecks or even just concrete and steel dump piles turn lifeless sand flats into flourishing natural reefs. Ever heard of reef balls? Same concept. Ships seem to do the best job of it though.

  • @3DG71646 ME THINKING SINCE YOU ARE NOT ED U MO CATED...IT CREATES A MAN MADE CORAL REEF...WHICH HELPS THE LIL FISHES.....GET THE PICTURE NOW....WHERE U FROM A REDNECK TRAILER STATE. WHERE THE STATE FLAG IS A CARTON OF SMOKES?

  • @3DG71646 60,000 tons of steel at over 150 dollars a ton , yep , a small fortune

  • @3DG71646 enviromentalist pussy

  • Ive dived down really deep about 24000 feet found alot of shipwreacks really cool

  • jeah! another military resource that is away from earth - but wait it itsnt! another source of junk on the ground of the ocean, that litters the face of earth. it sould have been demontaged... "ooooh its an arctikal reef now!" what an bullshit... an i think you US guys are proud of what you`ve done....-.- stop destroying natural reefs und build up can`s or some thing with junk like that! but the musik and diving was nice the vid long...

  • @MrFogbert Ohh Mr. Fogbert knows more then the people who know that sunken ships form artificial reefs.

A few minutes of research would confirm this. Also, the US is not the only country in the world that scuttles old ships. And why blame the US for destroying reefs when the reefs that are in real danger are off the coast of AUSTRALIA?!

My god... you are one very dumb and ignorant piece of shit aren't ya? Put your helmet and drool cup back on and get back in the retard wagon you stupid fuck.

  • @MrFogbert I agree with what you said.. but don't blame it on the US.. blame it on dumb ass people who like putting money in their pockets... thats not an American thing, thats a human thing. They are world class trash as far as I'm concerned, for littering the ocean floor! They say they care about the ocean and its habitat, but that bull shit, they care about their money!

  • @3DG71646 - Cody, this isn't, "littering the ocean floor". It actually helps create more life and helps marine life by creating an artificial reef for them. This has absolutely nothing to do with money, but helping the oceans and all the marine life in them and creating artificial reefs has been done for many, many years all over the world. So please, put away the class-envy and hatred bologna. A poor man never provided anyone a job!

  • Turn next right to see the underwater BP oil rig Horizon diving experience. entrance is free of charge,

  • For fuck sake, we get it! You can get there from ANY city in the US. Quit with all the written narration bullshit, and just show the dive, will ya? All that shit ruins the video.

  • is this before or after BP fucked the gulf?

  • @scobescide b4

  • @scobescide IT WAS AN AMERICAN COMPANY WORKING FOR BP. THAT FUCKED UP.

  • Looks a great dive but it was sad to see a fine ship go under, mind you she went down quick like. Whats the music, wish I could play my guitar like that.

  • flyboy8501 your so fucken cool

  • @mothafuknjuicedawg its just something i enjoy.

  • Only 30 hours from Hong Kong!

  • only an hour and 40 minutes from my house but i dont go scuba diving i go skydiving

  • @flyboy8501 skydive in to the water then

  • @tobbzor you know that would be pretty badass to have your gear on and do that it would be like something out of a movie lol

  • @flyboy8501 Yaa it would be awesome

  • Man, that was a frustrating video to watch. What was with all the black title screens?

  • Rip USS Oriskany

  • A lot of happy fish. Except for the one (2:41) giving the camera the bird.

  • why they using poooorn music thatss sickkk

  • All the ships in the Fleet eventually get scrapped, cut up, or sunk. The USS Oriskany is no different. She will live on as an artificial reef and still remain in tact.

As a former member of the United States Navy it is a suitable memorial for her great service to the country and for the men who served on her throughout the years. I didn't mention women because I am not sure there were any females stationed aboard her. I believe women serving in the fleet came after she was decommissioned.

  • lovely! i'm from Mobile and am currently living in Wisconsin. miss the Gulf so much.

  • @GreenHornet270, it's alot better than cutting it up and using it for soda cans isn't it?, atleast people can still see the ship and it's where it should be..out at sea, resting after a long days work so to speak.

  • i like the soft core porn music.

  • Hmmmm I \'ll be living out on the east coast this summer, methinks I will come to visit sometime...

  • This is a commercial.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. . . . . .

  • wats an artificial reef?

  • so many brave men died serving on this ship; damned shame to sink it like this.

  • great video...

im curiouse...i see people have said alot about it being messed up now...how bad is it destroyed now?

  • I was stationed aboard the USS Oriskany (Mighty O) for 2 yrs, July 1964 - June1967. She was a grand ship and even though is was a sad moment to watch her sink, it was nice knowing that some are able to enjoy her destiny.

  • @pop2pjr She's still a grand ship.

  • Cool Music ;-)

  • if you tie a rope to some thing where you go in and follow it out

  • Starting @ 4:13: very nice to see Old Glory waving w/ the current.

  • to bad it dont look that any more thanks bp and us gov. i wond what the efect the oil has had on the the sunking diveing ships out there

  • i want to dat too :(

    its beutiful

    srry hollands(nederlands)

  • have any plans to dive in the newly created gulf of america? mexico said we broke it we bought it LOL

  • @Burnz2much we didnt break it BP did

  • 1:27 That fish stared at me funny |: |

  • Wow, that was brilliant! What a great video. I'm totally sold. 200+ dives there for you, and I bet it NEVER gets old. Probably notice something that you didn't before in previous dives, everytime you do it. Hats off to a great presentation. Buy your friends a round of drinks for that vid. You owe them.

  • Something the Japan could not do, sink an ESSEX class carrier.

  • they should scuttle more ships insted of the scrap yard Look at the sea life and the ship is little with us today

  • @Mrbob200 no kidding. i think being sunk for wreck diving would have been a better fate for the USS Enterprise instead of being sold for scrap.

  • Interesting--I never knew this was where the Oriskany ended up. My dad has had a scuba license for years; I'd love to do it, too, but my ears don't clear when I hold my nose and blow to try to equalize the pressure--so unfortunately snorkeling and skin-diving to about 15 feet seems to be my limit!

  • fishing time lol

  • artificial reef

  • Outstanding video, thanks!

  • Did you write the music? It fits the video perfectly.

  • they showed this on the discovery channel when they sunk it. Its pretty cool.

  • I dive naked.

    Or not at all.

  • LOL

  • hey if anyone knows the name of the opening song plz lemme know

  • viva argentina

  • dood u would be screwed if all those fish decided to attack you at once

  • @meaty459 that would suck

  • wtf how is that 2 thumbs down????

  • Friend can tell me the name of the song? Thanks

  • very nice wreck, how deep can it go?

  • sounds like porn music

  • Strip tease maybe.

  • ahhahahah

  • LOL yeah

    At 1:50 definitely

  • @2448403 dsuhdsuhsdhushsdusdhsdhuh

  • I think it is a good idea to sink old ships as artificial reefs, they do a good job helping the local undersea environment.

  • why do they blow the crap out of old carries i would fuckin upgrade them to now and use them. what a waste

  • I know what you are saying but do realize how much it would cost to fix it up.? The ship was a rust bucket. Plus it was a non nuke

  • u no thats my pawpaw's ship, he served on it during the Vietnam War

  • Paw, Same ship.. except in Korea...earned the DFC (F9F's)

  • Got a Q. How many years will it take for her not to look like a Aircraft Carrier. And just blend into the sea floor?

  • Never - too huge and made of steel. Maybe a few millenia?

  • wher u diving with or is this just a vid u found and u put in the facts about it? :)

  • I've got 227 dives on the Mighty O, but this video was shot and edited by a couple of friends at MBTDivers

  • Suprised nobody said it's fake

  • fake?

  • What he meant is that there is always somebody who will say that, no matter how real it is hehe.

That was pretty cool, thanks for sharing the video with us.

  • No kidding! Some basement-bound idiot seems to say that about everything!

  • flight deck below recreational dive limits,

    WHAT A WASTE !

  • I wouldn't call millions of dollars in tourist dollars a waste. It is also providing literally tons of viable fish habitat, in an otherwise baron area. Officials did place it about 12' deeper than they should have, but having 8 stories of structure is still more than someone could see in several dives.

  • they should have put the hanger deck at 50 feet, that's all.

  • That would have put 50' of the ship out of the water

  • so, let the boaters have something to climb on.

  • The ship has to have 55' of water over the top according to coast guard regulations.

  • They may have done right initially accoriding to wikipedia the boat shifted after a hurricane so its 10' deeper than it was when it was laid to rest. As far as it being a waste, more like a shame, as far as it being a total waste I would have to side with DMB. Just feels like a mighty ship like that should sail till it meets its end..

  • They can't just run these ships until they meet their end. The cost of running a ship like that is unimaginable. We can't just keep using the ones we have, because our military is constantly upgrading (a new ship every 5 or 6 years). Due to the cost of running the old ones, they all meet similar ends to this one. It would be great if they could just come out with a mega carrier, but that too would be prohibitively expensive, and obsolete at some point.

  • Average life of a destroyer/cruiser/frigate is about 25 years. Essex class carriers (Oriskany) 40 years Nuclear powered carriers 52 years (U.S.S. enterprise CVN-65 commissioned 1961 due to be retired in 2013)

  • My point exactly, they retire them when a new carrier comes out to replace them. Constantly upgrading to new and better, more efficient weaponry.

  • Actually most of them don't meet this kind of end. Most of the ships in our navy end up being broken up for scrap. You never know... The next time you see a re-bar or an I-beam, or a piece thereof, you may looking be (in part) at a piece of a former United States Navy ship. Or maybe my grandfather's 1952 Chevy. Or something that hasn't been anything since being dug out of the ground and refined.

  • Wikipedia is a poor place to get infomation

  • yeah, well wikipedia can be edited by anyone so its most likely wrong dude.

  • I live in this town, it sucks horribly :(

  • has anyone dived this? Is there a limit to how far (and dare to) go inside the ship?

  • I've got 225 dives on her. The only limit on penetration is skill and training. While diving in an overhead environment is always dangerous, properly trained divers have made it all the way to the engine room!

  • how far can u avctually go inside it? must be welded shut at a certain point for safty reasons? get lost in there XD

  • For the trained diver, the entire ship is "open." But you are correct that it could be easy to get lost. Fortunately, the more complex parts of the ship are too deep for the recreational diver to reach.

  • I expect the depth was carefully thought out, even the bridge at 70'...most divers are not going to hang around too long?

  • Sport divers dont want to have to decompress.....90 ft is the nice maximum dive depth where you can stay for a bit.

I went to 110 once missed the reef and still used up 80% air in five minutes

  • how deep is this?

  • What music is this ?

  • interesting...

  • sweet. I want to go.

  • I am going to be a MBT diver too !! And by the

    way great video.

  • look ! a fish!

  • A FISH? WHERE? I SEE NO FISH

  • It's Nemo?

  • Look ! Chips and mushy peas as well .

  • there is alot of amberjacks. what is its depth?

  • The top of the ships Island structure is at 70ft. The flight deck is at 130ft and the keel/seafloor is at 212ft.

  • Amazing II very very cool

  • amazing.

  • where is this

  • no it's up your bum

  • YOUR FUNNY!

    Stfu you fucking douche`bag

  • I'm sorry, but that music makes me want to drive in my 84 Camaro again!!

  • I could not stop bobbing my head to the beats while watching this.

  • Boring from 00:00 til 03:50 <<<BBooooo

then after time-line 03:50 it is Really CoooooL:))))

  • I heard a guy died while diving it, is that true? Like he got stuck doing a penetration?

  • By the way thx for the post man, i also saw this on Nation Geographics channel but no divers =\

  • that ship couldnt even move so they decided to make a artificial reef out of it instead of making it go to waste

  • to je blo na discovery channel

  • Great video, I live here in Pensacola and watched the sinking and it was just awesome, I'm not a diver but love watching the divers, a thanks to all of them for making videos for us to watch.....Have Fun!!!!

  • pretty cool vid, does anyone know what music this is?

  • pretty cool vid, does anyone know what music this is?

  • Its only an 18 hour flight from Nairobi, Kenya !

  • why did they blow that ship up

  • It was being retired. It sat in port for about a year while they stripped it down to just the bare. So now, it's in the gulf and brings Pensacola EVEN more fame. =]

  • You look like you know alot about it, can you tell me when they sunk it?!=)

  • And only 7 hours from Nashville Tennessee I live in Nashville and Pensacola is the closest beach to get to really in Florida from here.

  • Preparations began in 2004. The actual sinking was in May of 2006. Was an awesome sight watching this massive ship go down from our boat. Planning to dive the Oriskany sometime this summer.

  • was it that long ago

  • This video is not fake because I live in pensacola and watched the ship get blown up and sunken on the local news channel

  • this video is not fake ur moms boobies are fake...and yes there are lots u dont know such as ur mom is sitting on my lap right now(naked)...YES!!

  • you want to see where it all started? MILANO black and white movie parts 1-3 amazing diver stuff and film noir, wow......

  • My brother served aboard the Oriskany off Vietnam.

  • I had no idea pensacola had the largest artificial reef.....Man thats sad I didnt know that.

  • I am sure there is lots you dont know..

  • nice

  • interesting...

  • nice vid, i know allot of divers who go there

  • no its not

  • It's not fake. I watched it myself. I live in Pensacola and tons of people took their boats out that day and watched it. I toured the boat after they stripped it all down, just before they sank it.

    It's definitely real.

  • You gotta see it to believe it! It's huge! Great video by a great shop! Can't wait to go back!

  • wow
