He didn't say 7 bullet wounds he said he didn't know how many bullets but that there were 7 (internal) wounds. MDC shot Lennon with hollow point bullets. The original newscaster did say that MDC fired 7 times but that was in error as there were many errors in the reporting of this incident. You are right about the capacity. Mark emptied the .38 revolver but one bullet missed. the other 4 struck Lennon.

I remember I was three days away from turning 8 yrs old when this happened. I knew the Beatles a little from my Dad, but was too little to understand. I just remember my father being very upset and it was all over the news and SOOO sad. They started playing Beatles movies on TV again that week. I am now a huge Beatles fan, and this footage makes me cry.

All I remember was being there about 2 hours after it happened, sitting on a bench on Central Park West just south of 72nd Street with some friends in the drizzly rain, before the crowds started coming, looking up at the 7th floor of the Dakota and crying. What a loss.
