Normally, I would agree with you regarding the large intakes. However, the intakes are necessary because of where the radiators are located. Moving the radiators to the rear shortens the coolant lines and some of the other plumbing. This saves weight, and improves the efficiency on the cooling system. Also, designers do not have to take front radiators into account when designing the car.
I think the comparisons with the italia will be never ending. IMHO the Ferrari has too many awkward viewing angles like each elevation had a different designer but the mac is beautiful from every angle. Cohesive and purposeful.
Did not look like the guy was pushing very hard. I am looking forward to hearing the reviews on this car. In my opinion it is not as pretty as the 458 Italia, but McLaren tend to engineer some pretty amazing vehicles.
@FormulaWill Got a chance to see both the 458 and the Mclaren at Goodwood and in my opinion the Mclaren look much better proportioned and advanced, the 458 looked actually gorky in thge flesh and too fussy at the front. I also thought the rear lights looked pretty poor and in no way looked like it should cost near £200,000. I too am looking forward to the reviews for these 2 cars, might even be tempted by the McLaren
@Warhead3000 These things obviously have a lot ot do about taste and preference. One thing I really like about the 458 is the absence of the large side air intakes. The window integrated scoops look more elegant to me. I have been in the 458. It is nice for sure.
