Awesome vid and the performance of the glider , although you had a tow down to the coast you managed to get back after flying lower than the cliffs , its nov and the sky is closing in ! was it a slight tail wind that helped and how did u get so much height from the cliff for the return beats me , although iam from a piss poor paragliding glide ratio set those sailplanes rock .
Hi Balleka..Thoroughly enjoyed your clip.! Am a Hang Glider pilot in NE Oz..and blessed here with flying all year round. But in winter, the cloudbase is lower and thermals weaker, but on non thermic days head for the ridge soaring sites.! Understood that nose down attitude, staying low powering through the lift! Geez..it looked rough on the way back down wind, and know the need when rain squall on the way! Was disappointed not to have seen your landing! Can you pl name song, wld like to use too.
Nice video! We also fly along the dunes in Holland. It's almost the same but you can fly higher :-) I've made a video of last Sunday you can check it on my youtube channel if you like.
@golfcharlie232 Hi GC232, Yeah I was flying from La Motte Du Caire for the last 2 weeks of June this year. Glad you liked the video, I mistakenly left my cockpit mount at home so didn't get any other footage. next time I will be more prepared!
@Balleka I'll bet it was - those low gap crossings in front of Sidmouth beach look incredible I'm surprised you didn't cause an accident ;) I only get that close to the deck on my final approach...
Well, if the airfield is only 20km far away, they would need to gain about 600 meters. I suppose the track is down wind so this should be enough... I'm I right?
@segelfliegerBaumann With the cliff was producing very smooth lift up to at least 2500' above sea level, so i guess the laminar flow off the sea is like wave. I would have liked to climb a bit higher as even with the strong tail wind I was only just on final glide for home. Needed a small thermal just to make it comfortable!
Very cool sequel. Perfect footage for my autumn blues - our season is already finished. Tank you for this marvelous clip. What's the distance between the seaside and your airfield?
@SoaringAwayFromItAll Thanks glad you enjoyed it, Cliffs are 20 km south of the club. We are lucky enough to fly through winter, there is a small west facing ridge at the club which allows us to keep the cobwebs at bay while the thermals are on holiday.
That is fantastik flight!

@xtremeplayboy The ASW20 claims about 44:1 with the 16.6m tips but the strong tail wind certainly helped

M5 with shark teeth, I might have come across this glider in the French Alps, when was the last time you were flying there?
Awesome footage once again! Did you try filming from the cockpit with a camera pointing forward, fixed around one of your shoulders?

@begisek2 Yeah that's enough, the club is 930' (about 300m) above sea level so you need about 900 ASL to set off

@Balleka I was surprised to see the wings flex - lumpy much? I'd have thought it'd be a lot smoother.
