I believe Tex is the A.I. view of Carolina. Church and Tex are "younger" versions of the Director and Carolina. He must have broken her trust/heart to the point where she was "dead" to him, but since he still remembers the old days when they were a team he made A.I. Alpha, since the he figured he was a monster for what he did, he split Alpha, and took out the bad versions of him to have team back together. And Carolina still hates him. Just an old man living out his dreams of used to be.
