The two videos were very informative. I'm living in Toronto where we have an astronomical Chinese cultural presence. Although many girls are 2nd or even 3rd generation citizens, it's still very relevant to know their traditional roots. Might come in handy some day. ;)
The real reason co-habitation before marriage is looked down upon is because the culture and parents view the man as getting something for nothing. i.e. playing without paying. hehe! Of course nobody will say that but it is all about security. If you play with the girl, the parents must make sure you pay. So that they can get their cut...
I agree with your points about renting versus buying, but I think most people seem to believe they must buy a house because they have to "invest" their money in the house, and renting to them is like throwing their money away. Not quite circular logic, but delusional nonetheless.
well also the further west you go into china the more fundamentalist people tend to be with the Islamic and traditional Confucian attitudes. Living on the east coast of China (which I recall you do) I imagine it's far more liberal. if you have any experiences going farther into central china I'm sure people would like to hear them.
@Ksabrs45 Im chinese.you seem to be an expert of chinese cultures.Im really impressed by your opinions.I guess you've learned the fact of what chinese are doing. The reason behind may be still a little bit confusing to you.Well done, mate. You're doing much better than those so-called experts.Keep up!enjoy ur time in china.
@Ksabrs45 Chinese share a lot of similarities,no matter what part of china they come from. However, there are some cultural differences between different regions of china. You'll learn the differences sooner or later.
