Hong Kong uses Cantonese..when I went there.. I didn't really hear Mandarin.. lol you mean northern china uses Mandarin and southern china uses Cantonese. and in Taiwan they use Taiwanese which is mandarin a little tweaked up though.

he knows chinese. though he is from canada, i'm sure he understands chinese even though his speaking abilities aren't that good.

i'm the same with him...though my speaking abilities are a bit better than his (not bragging). and he's also learned korean so he can communicate with the others. he'll improve though, his chinese since he is in china and his korean since he is under sm (korean industry).
