you are very good in defending man,i am still trying to get used to this new tactical defending and the best i can do is in professional mode,harder than that,i just get owned easily,i think attacking is just easier than defending in FIFA 12.Nice tutorial though,still trying to master this jockey defending

Fifa 12 is the best fifa ever because they made defending exciting and absorbing.. i am enjoying it. If anyone is still struggling, just hang in there and you will eventually get better but it will never get too easy. :) which is perfect.

Any attacking tips? I've been trying to use a similar defensive strategy with some success , however my counter attacks get snuffed out very quickly. I've lost about 20 matches in a row and I was fairly good at previous Fifas. Needless to say I'm pretty bummed out...

i just dont think its realistic defending, i mean real life teams press more like fifa 11, this has taken fun from the game, i play for fun and its a bonus if i win lots online, this saps my pleasure from just whacking it online for a dailly game before work.

Yeah giving them space doesn't work for me they dont score but they have like 75% possession, and without the ball I cannot create chances finding it hard to adjust.

How about a tutorial how to defense against dribbling players? Like Messi, Ronaldo, Silva Robben? If you give them space they just get closer to the goal and as soon as you want to snatch the ball away they'll just run/move passed the defender...

Running Jockey works best for me keeping with the players and when they make a bad touch move in and pressing B :)

@Fifa10Woeterman hey, try to use the player youre controlling to cut off the passing channel and use right button 1(PS3) to call another defender to track the player with the ball, if you see that your called defender gets close quickly switch to him and tackle him, if you fail to get the ball switch back to a player who can cover the passing channel. you may not get the ball but you will certainly cut down their chances of getting a clear shot on goal or a clear pass. This works great for me.

@Stuie1973 another thing about calling another defender. if the team youre against is making a lot of quick passes around the area use the above technique(cut off passing channel call another defender) and switch to the called defender cut off the pass channel call a defender switch to that defender and call another defender, repeat this over and over and should always have the attackers covered.

For me, the best improvement in FIFA 12, more important than Impact Engine or Precission Dribbling. Now defending makes sense :)

is it just me or is the legacy defending still nothing like previous fifa tackling? when i use legacy and just hold X my player just runs up to them but never puts a foot in to tackle its so annoying i just want to enjoy the game and for me spending ages on defending is not fun

@TheMusiicMan I understand your point, you can use classic defending too, but only offline. But FIFA is a simulator, if you want faster and easier games you have Pro Evolution Soccer.
