Yes. Mari died in the lake like she was supposed to in the remake, but in the original she didn't even try to swim away. She was too wrecked after the rape, so Krug just shot her in the back as she was slowly walking into the water, presumably to drown herself. Justin's (Junior in the original) death was awesome and made Krug a TRUE villian. He literally screamed at him and made him cry until he put a gun to his head and shot himself. Krug didn't even have to shoot him himself.

Well, the remake is better than the original in several aspects (the original was VERY low-budget shot with a crew of only 8 ppl and amateur actors, whereas the remake has excellent actors and production values). But the original is more disturbing and even includes a little black comedy in it.

The remake definitely was better than the original. Its bizarre hearing an actress say that she trusts the actor who plays the character who rapes her character.
