Massachusetts is lucky to have someone like Elizabeth Warren running for Congress. She is one of the most intelligent and trustworthy people in politics right now. I can't imagine any reason why someone would choose Scott Brown over her.
as a new yorker i cant vote for you but I know you are the best american coming into the political big game...we need you, we all need you. I pledged money and your posted and tweeted all over by me...how else can i help ? PS if Mass goes insane and dosent elect you, please come to NY...we will:) We see the world changing and the people have the power... we need our power back with your help
well, Karl Rove.....there's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's the same in Texas......fool me once. shame on that person over there, the bald guy with the weasel eyes...can't remember his name...I think it's Rove.....Karl ask your boss!
@pacoh1969 oh don't you worry.. if she wins in 2012, she'll have 3 years to build up her cred and national awareness.. she'll be in fine position to run for the White House against whichever right-wing rabid Republican is on the ascendancy then.. Warren vs Palin in 2016 would be a dream come true
@cloudshe Yes even Ron Paul would call him a boogeyman. Karl Rove "killed" his IT expert right before his deposition in a self-piloted plane crash. But of course that is pure speculation. Bottomline, if Rove played REAL non-deceptive anti-Warren ads instead of fabricated associations, that's perfectly fine. ergo, boogeyman.
@blognewb i think the point of rove's ad was that the bureaucrats screwed up TARP and people like EW, a bureaucrat who was involved in it, want to blame that on the corporations? i find the warren ads more dishonest than the rove ads anyway, her message of "it's the government that gives us the means to make a living" is Commie BS, plain and simple
well, just Maybe rove's ad is Not a lie. i didn't see any evidence from EW to the contrary. "oh, it's and Attack ad, and worse, it's from carl rove!" sheesh
did she Not chair the committee? did WS Not get big bonuses? someone fill me in
@cloudshe if you're interested research for yourself, she's been around for quite some time- and there is a lot of information on her out there. she's the real deal.
@traingirl6 i'm curious that her defense was solely calling rove names. why would rove claim she was chair if she wasn't? and i personally see nothing wrong with promoting the TARP to help limit the disaster, but why were those folks not smart enough to prevent the bonuses? just seems symptomatic of "spending other people's money"
@cloudshe A misrepresentation of facts in a way that creates a misleading impression and exploits the ignorance of some audience members is as good as a lie, in my book. Get real. She was chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel that reviewed actions taken under the TARP. The TARP itself was administered by Treasury in consultation with the Fed. The COP's purpose was to review use of TARP after the fact, and it was not empowered to do more than that. (continued)
@cloudshe (continued) In her role as Chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel, she did a stellar job using her bully pulpit to hold Treasury officials accountable--in fact, she was so good that the bankster types continually whined about her "exceeding her mandate." We should all be grateful that she caught Henry Paulson ought on a $78 billion accounting "mistake" (even Fox News was giving her applause for that).
@Seasass yeah, that's great, but then instead of defending her performance, she calls Rove a liar, when all Rove did was present some facts. sure, she's a Great bureaucrat/lawyer/debater, but i don't know if that's what makes for a good member of congress. she seems to believe that the Government has all the solutions if allowed to control everything. history tells us a much different story, verdad?
@blognewb not a lawyer? oh, the Disappointment!! i would think that would be a big plus, in case you haven't heard 99% of the lawyers make the other ones look bad ;)
@cloudshe You were diverting the issue. Rove was sponsoring deceptive non-factual attack advertisements which is typical of Conservative politicians and it's sad since I am a Republican.
@cloudshe If you knew anything about her record (which is amply represented here on YouTube, by the way), you would know that she was once a Republican, that she has actually tried working with banks in the past to develop private-sector ways of rewarding good behavior (e.g., the "clean credit card" certification for banks that don't trick people with hidden fees and retroactive interest rate hikes) and she eventually came to the conclusion that the system is so corrupt (continued)...
@cloudshe (continued) ... that the only way of restoring a system in which good behavior is still competitive is to address the problem at the level of public policy and government regulation. The financial services market has had ample opportunity to police itself, and I think we can all agree that it has failed miserably. As Michael Lewis (author of "The Big Short") has said, there are plenty of good people in finance, but the distorted incentive system makes them less good.
@Seasass warren seems to thrive in that area and hopefully has done some long term good. i'm not sure why the federals are involved so much in policing loans, that used to be the states' job. and certainly the media has not followed through to give us any protection there. so maybe if warren wanted to continue to specialize as a bureaucrat trying to sort out the problems in our finances, that would be Great for us! in congress, though, she would be spread way too thin to help imho
@cloudshe If you haven't seen the following documentaries, I recommend them highly: "Inside Job" by Charlie Ferguson; "The Secret History of the Credit Card" which was a Frontline special on PBS; and "Maxed Out: Hard Times, Easy Credit and the Era of Predatory Lenders" by James Scurlock. One subtheme that came up in all of them was how state attorneys general TRIED by prosecute lenders who abused the system, and the federal government (under Bush, of course) said HANDS OFF to them.
@Seasass thanks for the resource info! to be sure, easy credit has been a real villain to many borrowers. anymore we are taught that we're entitled to The Good Life, and having a pocket full of credit cards makes that possible, if only for a very short while. what ever happened to "buyer beware" and "read the fine print', or having a Budget? if we cannot learn from our own mistakes i seriously doubt that the Government will be able to fix our personal problems
@cloudshe Not sure exactly what you mean by "spread way too thin to help". Her performance as Chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel on TARP gave us a chance to see what kind of Senator she would be. She led a politically diverse committee, she issued reports, she held hearings and grilled people expertly, she solicited feedback from and communicated findings to the public. More people of her caliber in Congress might get their approval rating back into the double digits :)
@Seasass just my opinion. if she's great at doing those things why divert her expertise to that which elected representatives must do: getting re-elected? if we had a president that had a clue, he could really use someone like EW to effectively Lead the quest for financial reform. way too many headstrong bigwigs in the senate to produce anything but a political product when it comes to serious legislation imho
@mecher3k i don't know. yes or no? she's the one calling rove a liar but what is she denying? instead she generalizes, just like you do with the fox news insult
@removetroIIgroup well, it would help your argument if you didn't make outright false statements, 10 million is brown's Total fund, obviously NOT all corporation money. and do you think EW will turn DOWN DNC money? and where does THAT come from???
if you think EW's commie message is good for america, you go with that, i hope others in MA have more brains
Not long ago the bloated slimebag know as Karl Rove was painting Warren as the poster child of OWS - two weeks later he's now trying to say she's cozy with Wall Street? LOL We're of course used to his insidious, unethetical tactics - but this dramatic flip flip shows they are VERY WORRIED. Rightfully so - Warren is a stellar candidate.
Rove, the cowardly swine, is running scared. In the process of doing so in his latest hit piece, he inadvertently put the blame where it belongs, namely on the banks. So, in addition to being a coward, he has shown himself to be not as intelligent as the low-hanging fruit on the right have been led to believe.
I am not fearful of Karl Rove or any Wall Street hack diminishing Elizabeth Warren.. She's so damn good at communicating clearly to the public, and so good at connecting on a common level.. Massachusetts, what an honor it is for you to have this glorious woman seeking to be your voice in the US Senate!
@tyt12327 why is she "glorious"? Is it because she communicates well? So she's worthy of being a U.S. senator...? you really said nothing with this comment. what will she do to fix the economy, why should she be Massachusetts' senator? What issues is she going to solve, I'm still unclear of that after watching this ad and reading your comment.
@ConorJNixon did you even listen to her message to hold Wall Street accountable? It's exactly what the vast majority of Americans (tea party, moderates, and OWS-ers) believe in.. that Wall Street owns our government and we need someone in there that has been proven to call them out and take them on.. If she gets into the Senate, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.. until then, keep watching Mr. Rove freak out about her message.. money talks, he's scared of Elizabeth Warren
Karl Rove is a liar's liar, a real creep, who'd do or say anything to keep the elites and powerful of the world in control of the middle class and working poor. It's time we take back America from people like him.
Keep fighting, Liz, and we'll be there all the way!
I like Elizabeth. I think she has done some great and powerful things to try to fix the rotten mess in the financial world. She seems to be a good and decent person. So I am hoping she can do what most politicians would not. I attended a gathering of people today who wanted to hear Scott Brown speak on jobs. There were people there called "trackers". I am calling on Elizabeth to get rid of these un American creeps. They reflect very badly on Elizabeth. I'm sure she didn't send them: I hope not!
@Seasass apparently "swift boat" has a different meaning in massachusetts than it does in the US Navy, where the participants know a self-promoting "hero" when they serve with one
If she is elected to the Congress, she will not be able to change the system. The system will change her.
