Instead of clicking on the BG click on the object you want to keep and invert the selection. Use layer masks instead of just erasing and it's not C.T.R.L it's control.

Instead of using white I would think that you would use the eraser tool... who ever sticks to one solid background?

its more efficient to use the eraser zoomed in to see th eexact pizels instead of a "brush with a white background"

The Apple image you "masked" is SO ugly! Remember to feather before deleting! And this is selecting and deleting. Not masking. (I did see the annotation. I just wanted you to know what this was.)

there are other tricks to this....for instance...if your ants crawl over a spot that you do not want selected...ZOOM in then you can shrink your brush by pressing left bracket ...then hold in alt key and go over the spot you do not want selected and the "ants" will retract itself....also you should always refine the line so it doesnt look so choppy....and feather it out alil...hope this helps

at the end you erease the difficult parts with a brush, why don't you use your ereaser brush? they work the same and your background is away instead of white?

You know, you can drag the magic wand instead of clicking and if you hold alt you can deselect areas instead of using a brush.
