@g00dbyemisterA Apparently he figured out shaving. Maybe he had a beard but it was itchy so he cut it off? The animators said they didn't want to have to go through the trouble of animating more hair than necessary... So, yeah.

@g00dbyemisterA that's true it would've made him look more ape-like. Maybe that's why they didn't add that to his character, they wanted to symbolize the huge difference between him and his adopted family. Well that's my guess anyway lol.

One thing I've never understood about this movie...

Why can't Tarzan grow epic facial hair like his dad? He obviously doesn't cut his hair, so why is he clean-shaven? Maybe he doesn't actually grow facial hair at all - all his hair-growing energy is going towards those flowing locks.

I mean think about how nasty he would be... but you are right. He definitely would look A LOT worse than what they actually drew him to be XD but personally I am glad they did not give him a beard. he would have looked too unkempt and old.
