i moved from the westside of Chicago 5 yrs ago with my wife & kid & have seen the changes Rogers Park went thru. the change is for the better & we still love Rogers Park. we lovebeing across from the beach & lakefront & having close public transit all around. we even got rid of our car years ago. we're Rogers Park for life! CHI-CITY!!!
I have read some of these comments and I cannot believe how incredibly ridiculous some of you are being. It's shocking, frankly. This neighborhood is NOT for everyone. However, it is open TO EVERYONE. That includes immigrants, wealthy folks, the elderly, & anyone in between. I grew up here. I remember what this neighborhood was like & what it became. My partner & I have returned to be part of the change because we want RP to return to its glory while maintaining its diversity and beauty.
Hey now! Some of us "yuppies" are actually people who grew up in this neighborhood (Newgard & Northshore), went to college, & turned around & moved BACK to Rogers Park (Greenview & Pratt) in order to buy homes, raise families, and further develop the neighborhood. We are not transient renters (although there is nothing wrong with that) but rather permanent members of the community who actually care & want to see it become more diverse while becoming more successful & safer.
We still live in Rogers Park after 12 years, have kids in the public schools, and enjoy the diversity. I regret those that are too bigoted or ignorant to appreciate city living. I left the far north suburbs in 1986 & have no regrets. For us, Rogers Park is affordable living, close proximity to the Loop, historic homes, and good neighbors without the need to keep up with the Jonses.
In a neighborhood that eclipses most suburban populations, Rogers Park has a significantly low crime rate.
We purchases a condo there not knowing the neighborhood. We lived there for 2 years and are very glad to be out. I never felt safe. Sorry. We put it on the market the second we got pregnant. We had our daughter and 6 months later we were out. Its not somewhere i would suggest famililies to live. We are now in Old Irving park and much happier:)
What the fuck is up with that shit Banjo music? What is this Deliverance in Rogers park? I live in Rogers Park and find that music offensive like all your shit gentrification snuff films!!
Killerklown what are you talking about? I live on ashland and estes and have been here a year and a half and have had NO problems, it sounds like you are someone who maybe doesn't know how to keep to themselves when needed, like you have to do ANYWHERE IN CHICAGO. I lived in lakeview before and rogers park is nicer to be able ot walk to the beach, the red line, get any kind of food you want, and the rent is very reasonable considering its close to a nice beach and still in chicago.
Nice Nice Video. I really loved your video. Youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed, check out this site called tubeviews [dot net] It has really done wonders for me, I have built 3 Channels up with videos at top in position and this is my forth channel i'm going to working on.
WARNING WARNING WARNING

@Quickandwicked thats a valid point, and I enjoy the improvments, but it is a fact that Rogers Park isn't what it used to be...
