Go for it, these are great bikes. I sold this to buy a new 08 550 thats how much i like them. Peak power is not as high as jap 450s but low down tractable power is much better. When things get extra steep and extra tricky husabergs just grip and go. Ideal for hill climbing
So how would you rate this bike? I am looking for a 450. One of these is for sale...a 04 fe450. Well taken care of. gonna use it for hill climbing and trail riding. I've heard they dont have the power of the jap 450s.
I have a 2006 berg FE450 I redid all the valves because of this niose. iv had no problems with anything and it still ticks away. i have observed this for a long time and i think its the rocker arm that is going side to side not the valves to lose. if you get the bike real hot and it doesnt get better then you know its not the valve gap because as the bike gets hotter that gap will close up a little bit making the rattle go away.
change you`re oil and the sound might dissapear...the sound comes from cylinder heads and the might be not oiled...the oil lose his properties in time
Sounds ok to me - maybe a little tappet noise but not much, they all sound like that. My 550 was similar from new - set tappets using 1/6th turn method. Brilliant bikes though. Love mine.
Its the valves that are wrong with the camshaft...

sounds like my fx470. mine just had a full service so I would think that's a normal tick. it's a loud engine
eelmcd 2 years ago
valves make that tick tick sound, take a look at it or it can seriously damage the engine over time

hmmm, sounds like valve problem, squeeks when u rev also. or could just be a wire/plastics resting on the barrel rattling? lol

All supermotos are noisy ;)!

mine sounded like that, turned out to be the timing chain hitting the crank cases
pilotman750 3 years ago
nope, at least adjust the valves, 1/6th turn method!
