While I am admittedly a solid fan of the Star Wars franchise, there's something that has got to be said about Star Trek and Trekkie fandom. There are just episodes such as The Inner Light that just hits spots of emotion. It's absolutely fantastic. Much much much respect to this long-lasting franchise and journey across the universe. Live long and prosper.
Love this tribute. Nicely put together with the best background music. Brings back the idea of why so many Star Trek fans liked/loved the various aspects of the Star Trek universe. Looking forward to whatever comes out next on a television network is any.
A man had a vision of a future where humanity could stand as one. Where war, poverty, and hunger are abolished. There are no republicans or democrats, there are no "evil corporations" or "lazy socialists." There is only 1 human race with one goal in mind: to better ourselves. Thank-you Gene. I hope that one day humanity can live up to your dreams.
It's something like the creation of Star Trek that truly inspires imagination and curiosity in so many of us. Gene Roddenberry will live on in his truly ingenious creation.
What a great momntage. THANK you for not including the crappy new movie. A ship isn't supposed to look like a freakin balloon. And if Spock winds up banging Uhura, I am suing Paramount for fucking with my memories.
@Xero328 I don't see why people despise the new movie. Sure the lens flare is kind of annoying, but there's not much reason behind hating something different. I'll admit I am not the biggest TOS fan of all time(only watched 3 movies), but to me, it's a nice way of bringing Star Trek back. A lot of people liked it, it's one of the highest rated Trek movie of all time, and the only hate seems to be coming from the old TOS fans. I understand the new movie is a lot different than than what you are..
@Xero328 used to, that doesn't mean liking this move means forgetting the old series. Time for a new group of fans to step in. Imagine if the old Enterprise design is used instead of the new one, it's not gonna appeal to the new audience. I agree the Spock Uhura thing is very weird to watch if you have seen the original series and movies but the new audience havent. So maybe we can conclude that hating the new movie simply because it's different is...illogical?
This is simply the finest video I've ever seen on this site. Beautifully edited, the music breaks your heart. If Paramount had the brains God gave a gerbil this would be on every Star Trek disc they sold. It is magnificent.
@80smusicfanNO1 Yeah I tend to get carried away sometimes when I find something I like--there's so much on this site that's crap. I still think it would be a great thing to put on the DVDs.
Wow !!! I love this video tribute to Star Trek. Thanks for uploading this in higher resolution version. This is my favorite Youtube video period and seeing it in even better resolution is even more awesome. Happy 45th Anniversary Star Trek !!!!
I love watching this video from time to time since it was first posted. I first watched it shortly after being hired for my first professional gig. Doing that officially crossed me over from being a student to being a professional. Star Trek was a HUGE part of my childhood and impacted my life in more ways than I can count. Seeing this video reminds me of the childhood that I have since left behind, but reminds me of all of the enjoyment that came with it. Thank-you so much for posting this.
May this Journey never end, may we journey to all the undiscovered country together, and go boldly where no man..where no ones has gone before, were comming Gene wait for us.
Excellent video. I come back and watch it every now and then. I too get teary eyed, right about when you start seeing the "crossovers" of the crews meeting each other/being on each other's ship.
I don't think this could be improved of really.....but I would think maybe one way..... at the end of the piece.......you hear the pick up to the theme of the 2009 Star Trek movie and the events throughout it....
WOW! That is one of the best Trek tribute montages I've ever scene. The music is beautiful and the clips unforgettable. For all my fellow Trek geeks everywhere, thanks for a wonderful trip down memory lane.
What a fitting tribute to one of the most celebrated franchises in entertainment history. Who knew that when TOS was cancelled in 1969 that it would spawn 4 series and 11 movies.....Way to go, Gene. You made a masterpiece.
@MrTro15 < It was cancelled primarily due to low ratings for NBC. By 1969, people were still into crime dramas and westerns. Those were prevelant back then. However, in syndication, Star Trek slowly made a comeback. They began to establish a positive fan base and more people began to tune into their local UHF stations just to see the re-runs. This prompted Paramount to begin processing a concept for a 3rd network. This was planned as early as 1974.
@MrTro15 < The flagship series for the new network was to be Star Trek: Phase 2. Scripts, props and costumes were all made just for the new series. However, by 1976, Paramount scrapped the network concept and, instead, decided to take, what would have been the pilot episode, and make a full length movie. The pilot episode was titled "In Thy Image." They wrapped up production on the the movie in 1979 and released "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" during the fall of 1980. And the rest is history.
I love this video so much. It is suck great work and truly shows Star Trek essence. I am so glad that you uploaded it and I really enjoyed it.I love the music that you choose. The Inner Light truly shows the spirt of Star Trek. I hope you make one for the 50th year anniversary in 2016, I know that that one will also be truly epic. Thanks so again so much I just love this video.
I'm doing some research for a tribute video of my own and I happened to find this. You have really set the bar high! Excellent video :) The part where Kirk entered the bridge from the turbolift and faded out when Scotty entered from the holodeck entrance... WOW! I just don't know what to say, that was beautiful. Very touching.
I have loved this show in all it's incarnations since I began watching the first series as an adolescent. It was truly visionary, and an apt vehicle for dreams. This is a fitting tribute!
Star Trek will always be a reflection of the times. Through times of hatred, paranoia, war, science vs religion, ethics vs progress, true friendships, family values, honor, betrayal, loyalty, action, humor, beauty, and wonder... and even when paired with the various slogans and props that may seem "cheesy" or cliched to others... I can't think of any other show that has profoundly inspired a people or its culture for as long as this one has.
The Star Trek franchise has never been and will never be topped. It was a sci-fi show that had lots of exciting action and suspense, yet all of their storylines were thorough and complex, which made for great television and movies. Star Trek wasn't just about the action- it was about how a small group of people can work together to accomplish magnificent things, and in the while create magnificent memories.
@virgil261261 It is "The inner light's suite" as it appears in the GNP/Crescendo Record "The Best of Star Trek", a disc that compiles the most important songs of TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY.
Every time I watch this... I just can't watch it without tearing up. It doesn't happen. It doesn't even take me that long, I start right when the Guardian speaks. That's just how powerful this is.
Star Trek is a series that will always be a classic and a standard for all science fiction series in the future. I hope someday soon it will be resurrected so future generations can enjoy the series that we all have come to love. May the Vision of the Great Bird of the Galaxy Live Long and Prosper and continue to be relevant for years to come

@BuffaloHockeyTown I think that they should make a series about Section31 or possibly the Temporal Cold war. That would give the show a new perspective :)
imo they should focus on the federation romulan war or to take a twist on your idea a series about the 29th century federation -the whole temporal cold war detracted from the series but it was a fun story line.

I have just one word for this .... WOW! As one who has seen ALL the Star Treks (including the 1970's animated series which Paramount refused to acknowledge for the longest time).
After watching this video, a masterpiece, I now have the want to make this weekend a Star Trek weekend; meaning watch every Star Trek movie. As many have said, Star Trek is the greatest tv/movie franchise.
I love this video every time I have seen it. I think it is because of it's focus on the people, characters, and therefore the heart of the Trek universe. Technology and adventure is great, but good characters are what make the show work.
What a great franchise, so many great memories but sad that so many have left us and the travesty that was the new star trek movie will never be forgotten or forgiven
Awesome video ENTERPRISEMX01! It was very moving, even for a hardcore TOS fan like me ^_^
Does anybody know where that scene is from where Scotty raises a glass of scotch inside the old bridge after the flashback of the original crew laughing and happy? My gosh, teared up almost instantly lol.
@Kyousuke687 That scene with Scotty raising a glass of scotch on the old bridge(it was a holographic image in the Enterprise D's holodeck)was from the TNG episode "Relics".
I agree.. I just watched this and I am very choked up, after all my generation grew up with Star Trek, and its message was good for us. Unfortunately I feel like our present time in history is just like the Dominion Wars.
Incredible video. Star Trek is easily the greatest sci-fi series. Don't get me wrong, I do love Star Wars. It's just I have a higher desire to watch/support Star Trek.
Gene Roddenbery, THANK'S form the bottem of my hearth. YOU GAVE US A TOUCH OF HEAVEN. You deserve HEAVEN, a humble thank you you to all. (I grew up with star-trek)
That moment where scotty toasts his old friends...I too tear up everytime...As well as when kirk and spock step out of the gateway, and they flash to kirk looking up at the stars; reminds me of the 25th anniversary clip: "Ever since early man first looked up at the night sky, he has dreamed of venturing far among the heavens...
I said it in the old versions comments...but when the Human, Vulcan and Andorian ship warp off to form the three stars in the UFP logo...it brings tears to my eyes. Strength and Progress through Cooperation and Understanding. That's what Star Trek is all about. But the Vulcans said it best, IDIC.
I still tear up everytime at 6:14 when you see the old enterprise crew laughing, then it flashes to the future and and Old Scotty raises his glass in toast to friends long gone and memories as fresh as yesterday....
@coolguyii13579 Damn right. A very emotive moment. One of the things I always loved about Star Trek, it can always stir the emotions. Another particularly touching moment is at 1:27 with the 3 starships going into warp, becoming the 3 main stars in the UFP flag. Very poignant and very well done. :O)
I have to say ENTERPRISENX01, that is one of the finest tributes to ANYTHING that I have ever seen here on YouTube. It makes you want to watch all these series even if you haven't bought into the whole 'Star Trek' thing! Awesome! and a brilliant upload!
I wanted to ask - there's a particular video on here, similar to yours. There's only one thing I remember about it - a black warp nacelle streaming across the screen that reads "United Federation of Planets". I remember it coming at the tail end, after a celebration of all the various casts and/or ships. Is there any chance you know which video it is?
Alright NASA: Time to get your shit together and find us some aliens!
Great video, man :)

Kyousuke687 1 year ago
@Kyousuke687 That scene with Scotty raising a glass of scotch on the old bridge(it was a holographic image in the Enterprise D's holodeck)was from the TNG episode "Relics".

I never liked that Jadzia married Worf, even if Dax eventually ended up with Bashir. Just seemed wrong.

I agree.. I just watched this and I am very choked up, after all my generation grew up with Star Trek, and its message was good for us. Unfortunately I feel like our present time in history is just like the Dominion Wars.

@gene9156 Very well said. And what a generation we had!

THIS is the future i wish for our race (but without the Dominion and the Borg), and this the why I love Star Trek.
Live long and prosper to every human, vulcan, andorian, xindi, klingon.....
P.S.: I think Janeway could be Kirk's grand grand grand niece, what do you think?

Incredible video. Star Trek is easily the greatest sci-fi series. Don't get me wrong, I do love Star Wars. It's just I have a higher desire to watch/support Star Trek.

This is by FAR the best star trek video around (even if I prefer the old editing).
Could you please remake the OLD one in HD ?

I wanted to ask - there's a particular video on here, similar to yours. There's only one thing I remember about it - a black warp nacelle streaming across the screen that reads "United Federation of Planets". I remember it coming at the tail end, after a celebration of all the various casts and/or ships. Is there any chance you know which video it is?
