  • Lifetime dan fan, and this sounds great. If you need some perspective listen to Howard Jones terrible cover of Fagan's IGY.

  • Skunk and Simon kicking ass! Singer sounds like SHIT. No REALLY, the singer sounds like SHIT!!

  • It is almost tragic that this band didn't STAY TOGETHER!

  • Love how the posers, who couldn't even playwiththemselves right.. come in here...and criticize the PROS, who've toured the world over Too many times to remember!! LOL!!! Go back to your GI Joe dolls and Nintendo's.... POSERS!

  • wow, this is pretty good and amazing...

  • Is that David St. Hubbins on vocals?

  • Saying I like this cover is as saying that I approve rape... nice try but please be humble and do not try to be on the same level as SD. My ears are going to sue you for behing harassed.

  • Wow. I never thought I would approve of anyone doing Steely Dan ... but this is good.

  • Who is that ridiculous singer?

  • Singer loves himself, has a good voice but his performance lacks any kinda feeling. and if that's 'ol Skunky on guitar - he's nailed it!

    the drummer really is good

    the keyboards not so great

however all in all an amazing rendition!

  • Cool , didn't know the Village People were still giging - checkout the background singers. Great version of this song!!

  • How the hell did I see this group (or almost all of it) in Newcastle Australia about a month later, Jeff Baxter, Joe Walsh and the back up singers were there, but no Entwhistle and no lead singer... and there were a maximum of 200 people in the audience. (The Palais in Hunter Street Newcastle)

One of the most memorable nights of music I've seen in 40 years.

  • Thumbs up!!

  • Each guy looks like they're from a different decade. Singer is definitely 80's, drummer 90's, Joe 60's, Jeff 70's. Entwistle Timeless. It looks like the end of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

  • awesome :]

  • It actually sounds pretty decent. The only thing thats really fuckin weird! is the all dude back up singers, and the fact that Carrot Top is on the drums.

  • @tyleryesta1 the pony tail on top is strange, but far from Carrot Top. that is Simon Phillips one of the best studio drummers of all time and the drummer that TOTO asked to fill in after the passing of Jeff.

  • Horrible. why is skunk with these guys, and doing a bad version of a timeless classic? Rhythm problems everywhere, and the intonation is sloppy. Percussionist is overplaying it. YUCK.

  • @munit1954 wow hater! where do you get off with those down remarks.....are you some kind of musical genius like Mozart or Van Clibern??? Do you even have an ear for music??? Do not appreciate those comments period....this band is GOOD and so is the guitar player you are dissing...get off the juice and re-listen to it...it may sound better after all!

  • @paulyrulo1 Yes, I am a musical genius. AND, I can detect flaws in rhythm, and sloppy playing. So could Mozart and Van Cliburn

  • Not bad for a cover but make no mistake! the best version is done by Steely Dan.

  • what band is this; they sound good but ive never heard . what songs do they sing?

  • Who in the fuck is "The Best"? Honestly, I have never heard of this band.

  • I wonder if there´s any guitar player that have reached the level of Skunk...

He plays better and better through the years...I think he may be the best of all time, with the due respect to Mr. Hendrix and Mr. Buddy Guy!

  • INCREDIBLE. period

  • we heard you're leaving, that's okay,

I thought a little wild time had just begun,

I guess you kind of scared yourself, you turned and run,

but if you have a change of heart

  • Skunk Baxter played on the original, he can play it any way he likes and it sounds just fine to me and does his presence elevate it from a "cover band" to a supergroup playing the songs people have listened to them play for many years? I hear some sour grapes in these comments. I'd love to play anything with this calibre of musicians around and hear 'most anything they care to spend time practising. Thanks for the upload 777.

  • the singer has the mister t starter kit around his neck

  • @stephensticht and Robert Plant he is not! Great tune though.. Dig that guitar sound.

  • I hate to step on any toes here, but it does say comments [not good comments only] Did they need to catch a bus or what? I enjoy the studio version much more than this one. It feels rushed.

  • Is this the original Steely Dan ?

  • Yeah, SIMON PHILLIPS! Go, man!

  • Boy, if you're going to put together a cover band you'd have a hard time finding better musicians than this lineup!

  • too fast - tempo is all wrong

  • @tcorken your clueless...

  • @SRMeadows and so are you in that case. I played this song many times in many different bands over the years so I feel I'm entitled to my opinion given my experience of the song. Sure, the band are competant musicians and play well together but that's not the issue. In my opinion the song is rushed and for that reason I feel that it has lost some feeling. Simple as that. Take it or leave it.

  • @tcorken Let me guess....your band was much better.....and your cover was too.....?

How about posting YOUR perfect tempo / non-rushed version? I don't expect you to, because that would confim what I already suspect.....your clueless. Take that or leave that.....

  • I thought a little wild time had just begun..........

  • Wow!!

  • I'm not much into watching guys who tie their shirt in the front or back up singers who don't wear skirts but this is a GREAT cover to listen to.

  • @gravysopper, I think the gravy has damaged your brain cells - did you actually listen to this?

  • this really sucks ---shame --------------for all that even think this could even be THE DAN

  • So great to see The Big E as a side man on piano after so many years being a front musician in ELP proving the E is not just for ego! Check his new band the Keith Emerson Group where he is still jamming with Marc B another great guitarist.

  • Been a fan of The Dan since the early 70's. It's so rare to hear another band cover their song that I was kind of stoked by this performance. But, maybe after listening to it some more, I may start to agree with you gravysopper. I wish Skunk would come out of retirement and start playing again. He is such an exciting musician! But, he's making the big bucks now working for Uncle Sam. He's a genius!

  • I just threw up...Where do I start with this: It's too fast, has no soul, Skunk butchers his own signature solo for the song, the lead singer is just wrong, wrong, wrong for that song, and the background singers are straight up douche bags. Awful, Gawd awful...

  • @gravysopper wow! Mr. negative! I'm assuming these efforts pale by comparison to anything you've ever done. Don't just criticize, show us all whatcha got superstar!

  • @gravysopper Right on with the BU singers --- but other than being tooo fast, it really isnt that bad of a cover. At least they didn't try to rap the song.

  • @gravysopper nailed it. especially with Skunk's solo. one of my favorite guitar solos by anyone.

  • what a cast!

was this a 1 time show?

  • Superb cover !
