A radar detector CAN save you from laser . It just depends on the circumstances . 98 percent of the time Im not the only car speeding on the road . and 98 percent of the time Im not the first car zapped . The way I do it is only speed in traffic that permits it . AND DONT SPEED IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT !!!!!

So if a policeman were to be near a LIDAR monted on a tripod but not directly behide it would he able to issue you a ticket? does it only detect speed or do police use with in combination with something else to get your licence plate?

A laser speed detector uses a cylindrical beams 5 times a second flashes to time your speed as opposed to steep cone shaped ones that radar uses. Please reply and explain: sometimes it's registering when your're pointing the reticle (cross hairs) at the licence plate and sometimes at the drivers right side (starboard) headlight. people say it only registers on the licence plate-or is it on any perpendicular (flat angle from the laser beam) surface ??? ??? ???

The beam isn't a cyclinder its actually a square made up with three verticle mounted Laser diodes. The guns operate from 68 to 238 pulses per second.

Laser guns work when the light can bounce off something reflective. Your headlight have great reflectors inside them. I can even get a speed on a covette with no licenceplates and headlights down. You don't need a licence plate or something perpendicular to get a speed. I have gotten speed readings off side view mirrors too

That's interesting I didn't know that. If they're able to film themselves doing this combined with that kind of pulse rate and a logging system-it would give them an unbeatable cases against people. However, if you have laser detection even though you don't know it's there untill your'e clocked; you still realize you've been "clocked". I was in a situation where I was going about 108 mph past a road trooper (Romulan as I call them !), and this is without any radar, laser detection-or even a scanner to hear him/her. Another extrememely important question is that will your laser detector be set off as soon as the cop is "triggering" as you describe it or when your vehicle is clocked "targeted". If so you would be shocked as to how much faster you could brake if you have larger cross drilled brake rotors in front and rear-especially if there's no bull**** ABS electronics interfering with them. Full size chevy's have a tremendous almost panoramic view through their windows ...

I have had a C6 z06 and Porsche Cayman S try to out brake my laser gun....Both failed miserably

Only protection against laser is laser jammers which are illegal in 10states therefore I will not go into their details

You said that you were able to get a reading )a lock) on a corvette with no plate and it's headlights down. Were you able to get the reading off the front signal/marker lights ? would it reflect off a windshield ?? A book you would definitely want to get: "Beat The Cops, The guide to Beating Your Ticket In Traffic court" by Alex Carroll" In it he states that you may have a better chance with a black Corvette or a Mazda but not much more and that because Trucks and SUVs are so big and have shiny

I remember going 110 mph on 85 N (Georgia) and the Georgia State Patrol and he laser me..I manage to reduce my speed before he clocked me.

Try it with the Rocky Mountain RMR-C475 radar/laser jammer, I would like to see if it actually jams the laser gun.

RMR Products are a huge scam!!! They will not jam/scramble radar or laser. 60 minutes, 20/20 and other local new stations have tested those products to be useless!

I have the RMR unit and have gotten 2 tickets using it, the cops in my area have just started using instant on, rmr units are no match for detecting instant on, I also passed a cop shooting a laser gun and my rmr unit never alerted I plan to buy a higher end one, I'm deciding between the V1 or the Bel Sti

Seems like the laser is showing a slower speed at long range, and only works effectively at close range unless those cars were speeding up as they got close to u. Just wondering, if u have ur headlights on all the time (like on my motorcycle) wont that hinder the laser gun since the 2 lights interfeere and the laser can't use the headlight reflectors as well. Been looking at VEIL as well as opposed to jammer since it can get expensive and crammed with a radar detector.

Has any one heard that having a laser light pulsing or spring that flickering will give false readings back to a laser, is this true

dectectors are not useless because the good ones can detect the beam even when its shot on other cars. they can also detect it when the cop is too far away to get a reading but is still attempting to shoot you with it.

and more than likely there are rules where the they have to record your speed a few times during a certain duration of time. i doubt its just point and shoot for a split second (at far distance) and then they can fine you. at least from a courts stand point.

Actually nope they can shoot your car just once get the speed reading and you are done. Watch Speeders on TV. They only need to "visually estimate" your speed and then confirm it with the laser gun.

The only state with a restrictive law on Laser Guns is NJ which requires offers to only ticket vehicles within 1000ft.

V1 is the best laser detector and it rarely alerts unless I am the car being shot. I have been using a V1 for 4 years

All a radio is doing is detecting radar frequencies....That is exactly what a radar detector does.

Radar is comprised of radio waves and when the radar detector "hears" or detects those radio waves it alerts. Much how you radio translates the waves into sound

In the UK there are more cars on the roads and people drive faster, and yet there are far fewer accidents than in the USA. The speed limits are much simpler in the UK. There are only three, and they depend on the type of road or motorway.

US drivers are far too distracted with constant speed limit changes, signs, warnings, laser detectors, cruise control, changing tapes, using cellular phones, etc. That's one reason they have such a high accident rate. Too many stop signs and no roundabouts.

1, curise control - is for any long Trips by vehicles, which actually comes in handy when driving 6-12 hours... on interstates when you have no traffic

2, Radar/Laser Dectection systems are a Very useful and actually are no distractions what so ever.. they are just an extra set of eyes on the road to know when you're being monitored.

3, Cell phones= Ever herd of Blue tooth enabled -hands free.. its like talking to your passenger while you drive.

As I said, there are only three kinds of roads in the UK, each with its own speed limit.

So that means you always know the speed limit because of the kind of road you are on.

In the USA you need to check signs, and the speed limit constantly changes.

The amount of signage in the USA is distracting people from looking at the road and other cars.

I do agree that it's way too easy for a person to get a driver's license here in the US. Actually all of our standardized tests have been dumbed-down, so no one gets excluded.

Belltronics makes a radar detector that can't be detected by the spectre RDD (radar detector detector). :) good to know if you live in a state where RD's are illegal.

Unmarked cars are easy to spot even at night, but I have a good eye for headlight and tail light signatures
