  • Who says a punk rocker can't be a philosopher? Check out this interview with Black Flag.

  • ah good times

  • all clubs have fights, why else do bouncers exist? ignorance+propaganda tool such as tv=stupid ass shows like this

  • advertizement

  • "A lot of kids cant afford to get in so they hang around outside someone says something and someone throws a bottle etc.." sounds like every concert in the world ever...

  • looks just like taxidriver :D

  • @rebelbrown101 I think that was the point...Taxi Driver 1976...it was considered Taboo and Creepy in 79/80...brilliant

  • I saw this when it originally aired, in 80 or 81.

  • I still believe that 80 percent of "Punks" are just sheep following a fad while the other 20 percent who are really punks know that a mohawk or a jean jacket doesn't make you a punk, it's what you do. You could dress in only white undershirts and pajama pants with plastic bags sown to them and still be a punk. Sure you'll look like you huff paint but I think real punks wouldn't care, scoff, bat an eyelash or even get mad at anyone staring or commenting on your weird get up.

  • police: parfumed words in front of the cameras and kicks in the asses at young guys beside the screen. fuck you bastars

  • half of the time police start the riots and the fight!

  • i think this interview predates the decline with hank.Dez was still singing.or maybe even Ron.

  • i found the advert offensive

  • Who cares what punk is or isn't, just do what you want and that should be all that matters

  • When was this filmed?

  • The violence was cause by the police!

  • @DarkestraOrchestra usually is

  • what show is this

  • Has anyone heard that song on grooveshark (dot) com that's called 21 GUNS by Black Flag? The song on grooveshark says it's from Black Flag but the song sounds like a mix between modern hardcore and metal. So yea is the song from Black Flag or not :P? Oh and the punkermohawkguy sounds more intelligent than that nicely dressed blonde.

  • Y'know what pisses people off even more? Y'know what really gets them? When you dress like a punk, with the hair and clothes and everything, and you have a lot of piercings and look like you want to cause trouble, and you turn out to be a moral, intelligent person with a brain who can talk like a human being. THAT just kills them.

You can thank Ian Makaye for that one. :-D

  • @Lovr4nowVegan4evr haha im intelligent but not very moral

  • These people use to fight the police, and you people are fighting on the internet. I can't tell you what punk is, nobody can. I can tell you what is not though: arguing over youtube.

  • @LaGreatChrisMaxie but the fucked up thing is that can be punk

  • What's with all of the Black Flag videos being taken down in You Tube? Is Ginn doing a Prince? What an asshole!

  • Punk is arguing what punk is on Youtube. Now GET TO IT!!!!

  • He was yelling it the police for canceling the show. Either way, its funnier than the dead kennedys. And quit being all pissy about racist stuff guys. The amount of racist "punks" is about proportionate to the amount of just regular racist assholes in life. Plus being anti-racist is a good thing, but it aint the 70's anymore guys, no one cares, its just being your average liberal.

  • Punk-- is NOT arguing about what Punk is on a comment forum-- But instead enjoying the fuckin video you came here to watch

  • he reminds me of heroin bob

  • Comment removed

  • Stupid kikes, don't tell Gentiles what they're allowed to do and think. "Is this the Nazi movement?" Should have shoved her in an oven.

I wonder how cops respond to rap concerts that get out of hand, by apologizing I bet.

  • she formed an opinion of chuck before she met him and she ended up be shocked by the intelligent things he said

  • what the hell happened to blanktv. has anybody else seen the stupid shit they've been uploading lately. apparently it passes for punk.

  • I suppose this was 1980?

  • IT WAS AN ASS WHOOPIN SESSION BY L.A. STORMTROOPERS!!!

  • hahaha, good

  • WHERE IS THE FUCKING MUSIC YOU ARE WASTING MY TIME

  • @chancellortc It's an interview, you dumb shit

  • Bands can't tell the audience how to act.

They can encourage...but if the kids fight, they fight.

People need to realize this is just what we do at shows.

Cops arent needed there because there is no problem, its just moshing and what they do.

But I suppose if its not a football game it means a terrorist riot.

  • stop the violence at shows or punk wont last

  • @mediattackrecords BAHAHAHAHAAAA!! Listen to yourself.

  • holy shit that lady has the most annoying voice ive ever heard

  • chuck is smart lol.

that reporter was shocked on what he said and the way he said it.

im sure she was wanting some crazy ass mother fucker on stage to cause some controversy.

  • lol noice reporting there Lois

  • Have lots of respect for the punk scene back then I wasnt around then but yeah good shit since I live in the city where black flag is from the old punk scene still creeps around in the air you feel it

  • Is Henry Rollins still doing that talk show?

  • In my opinion, people like you are fucking dumb for putting your money into sellout bullshit music that has no real point, and further help to tip the scales against any musical revolution, but rather you help to make the music industries more powerful, in essence giving them more control of the music we are allowed to hear, and giving them more money to put out garbage like Justin Bieber and Hannah Montana. It's because of idiots like you that music sucks today. Go listen to classicrock shit!

  • There is a difference between a music style being dead and a music style being underground. Most clubs/venues don't wnat their property wrecked so they are hesitant to allow such violent shows at their clubs. Would you let The Lower Class Brats, or Evacuate (two present day American punk bands) play a show at your house and invite several other punks? I doubt it, unless you like to pay for damages done to your home. That's how it was back then. Nobody wanted the liability of having violent shows

  • @TheManWhoWouldBeDead I can name several punk bands that exist today in the US that have labels or are part of a small DIY label. I think you're just some wannabe know it all who sounds just like any tard who don't know shit about punk. I can name even more punk bands that are just as crazy as Black Flag in other countries. Also, tatoos and piercings did exist before punk, so your point is invalid. Shock today is shit like lady gaga and maryln manson, so you are apparently a fucking fool!

  • @TheManWhoWouldBeDead You apparently haven't ever been anywhere else in the world. Punk is still pretty big in countries that are struggling, such as Russia for example. Punk isn't dead, the American music industry just tried to control it and manipulate it to make a profit, like they do with any type of music that is considered popular by one crowd or another. What are you even doing on here....classic rock was the mold they tried to break, and it worked

  • Have you ever notice that women bitch about everything.....

  • @grubermister777 hahah fuck yes and i'm a chick

  • Yea man I fucking worship these guys. What ever happend to classic hardcore punk like these guys and other punk legends like the Circle Jerks, The Descendents, The Casualties, and so forth.

  • everyone was having a good time the cops just had to come fuckin with the free minded people!!!!!

  • You now cannot unhear Lois from family guy.

  • I love how he talks so intelligently and comes off so knowledable. The host is actually pretty respectable here. Im so used to t.v nowadays where everyone is trying to push an agenda without any understanding or growth.

  • Well that was a delightful evening.

  • No dictionary description can describe 'punk' effectively because it was never a fixed thing. Ramones (I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend) had different ideals and ideas than The Sex Pistols(God Save The Queen) and Black Flag(Damaged) the same in relation to Dead Kennedys(Holiday In Cambodia). Trying to define what is punk or what is not is pointless because everyone has their own perspectives, especially the people who created it.

  • who was the singer at this show?

  • @xxMassMurderer1235xx i think it was dez, before he grew the beard.

  • at least punk are not cynical, hypocrit and lyer, look to what happen during those last 30 years !!! and where we are now !! i would like to thanx punk to have open my mind at that time, cause now i'm strong in my brain, and i do not awash in debt

Ah ah ! look where the cupidity of a minority of people have lead a million of people to nothing and poverty.

  • Punk's a mindset. really being yourself, while enjoying the good music. There are no rules

  • Wow I really respect Chuck for telling about his middle class life, private high school, varsity football player ect...most people would look down at rich kinda ppl like that, but its who he is and he embraces it, instead of hiding it and lying. Good man.

  • Typical media....obsessing over the violence and not who really cause it?

It was the fucking surfer/jock/skins who went with the purpose of just tearing shit up for fun.

Not there for the music its because they wanted to fight.

    Killed it

  • ah ha ha yeah, often we do like to fight !

and whats wrong with that !?

  • its annoying how somebody edited out that chick that was with chuck's comments!

  • I wish that part with Jello Biafra/DK (0.0-3.5) doing 'Man with the dogs' at the very start had not been cut off... Chuck's dad work for TRW, a military contractor (See: 'The Falcon and the Snowman')...OH, the irony!

  • How is this punk? Avril Lavine is the punk. Yea right, fuck people who say shit like that hahah !

  • i seem to remember Jello Biafra saying something along the lines of "punk's not dead, punk will be dead when it can be packaged and mass produced" which has been happening for quite a while now. But, this upcoming decade of sickening indie pop rock is setting punk up for a comeback in 2020

  • @liquorstore888888888

Jello said: "punk's not dead it just deserves to die when it becomes another stale cartoon. A closed minded self centered social club...ideas don't matter it's who you know. If the music gotten boring it's because of the people who want everyone to sound the same...who drive the bright people out of our so-called scene 'til al that's left is just a meaningless fad..." -'Chickenshit Conformists' see also: 'Anarchy for Sale'

  • @wgilroy yeah he said the other thing in an interview though.

  • These men are gods among mortals

  • shit like rancid and greenday that shit aint fuckin punk its fuckin lame, theres good underground punk shit still listen to the aids homes does shit like GG Allin, check out they hate us. GG is the best punk shit ever

  • @deathbirthisafaggot6 your so cool cause u like gutter punk lol. your telling me that rancid isnt punk? wow.

  • @deathbirthisafaggot6 The guys from Rancid were also in Operation Ivy, that alone should isolate them from this "harder core than thou" critique. If you look at Greenday they too came out of the same San Francisco hardcore scene just as op-Ivy, Isocracy, and the Mr. T Experience,et,al., had. The so-called post 'FAB MAB' scene that centered around MRR/Gilman Street. Give the guys a little bit of credit...

  • @wgilroy first of all i dont see why the operation ivy thing should exclude them, elaborate on that because it makes no sence, also greenday and the mr.T expieriance are the farthest thing from being apart of this true greenday has elements of punk rock but its honestly nothing of the sort, and the Mr.T expieriance is a fucking joke and i cant take them seriously as a band at all, and definately are no where near hardcore in any manner what so ever.

  • Then you are dense. Ever wonder why kids are turned off to punk, why "it is not around anymore"? It is because harder-core than thou scene folks are not art critics, you are scene snobs. The most "un-punk"(a term that shouldn't exist)thing is being a snob that is rude to other people that are turning on to music and a lifestyle.2cool4U BS! Here is another Jello quote 4U: “What better way to turn people off than to twist ideas for change into one more church that forgets we're all human beings.”

  • @wgilroy im not understanding what your getting at at all,

  • how did this turn into popjunk ?

trendies call it poppunk it should be called poprock!

    not the same at all.

    poprock=candy punkrock=brandy

  • It's called moshing, suck it up wusses. And you shouldn't blame the band, or all punks because some idiots gots bored, outside of the show and wanted to be bold and pick fights. Shit like that happens all the time.Fuck te police, that are the reason for most violence anyway. Shooting innocent people because the piece of paper they were carrying looked like a gun. It's just ridiculous.

  • fuck green day that not real punk and they suuck

  • @colby7538 look at it like this.. the first punk band is the ramones.. and they are just as poppy as green day. And who are you to say whats punk and whats not punk? you must be with the punk police.

  • nnazi punks fuck off!

  • @AustinIsAPunkRocker

    Wrong band dude

  • Crazy! How far things have come and Bands like this are the reason. If you have ever played in a band you can respect Black Flag and their history.

  • Black Flag NEVER told anyone to harm anyone

    Ignorant people

  • Theres been a great deal of violence attached to the concerts of the Black Flag haha 5:29

  • This is ORIGINAL Black Flag - not the Henry Rollins fake punk, feel good douche baggery.

  • @FelchBelcher What the hell are you talking about? This isn't the original Black Flag. By the time this video was made, Dez was on vocals and the band had already went through several lineup changes. Also, during the Rollins era, they put up with the same exact shit. Riots, police harassment, poor living, it was all the same. Also, if you didn't like the Rollins era of Black Flag, blame that on Greg Ginn. It was his band and his creativity that went behind most of the songs.

  • This was when punk was really punk, i wish could have been around back then and on top of that there was'nt little emos and all the other fags that try to copy punks

  • ITS PEOPLE THINKING FOR THEMSELVES AND AUTHORITY BEING THREATEN....

  • Always thought Dez was a great vocalist. Really raw, just like Greg

  • i fucking love that guy

  • wtf 8 douches givin thumbs down on a great part of Punk history...figures.

  • punks not dead were not out to scare people with shock and horror with green liberty spikes and red mohawks we do it cause we like it tats we get em cause we like em and most punk tats are of there fav bands and theres still real punk bands around rancid left alone time again dropkick murphys street dogs the casualties nofx mxpx leftover crack and many more you just gotta find em dude punks alive its just underground like its supose to be up the punx. punk and skins unite

  • bueno black flag esta excelente pero el publico seguro estaba muy drogado la mayor parte del tiempo

  • fuck the police

  • @teddieftw thats not rollins dude. thats dez.

  • @swankinstender That's not Dez, dude, that's Chuck.

  • @lesharam um did you read teddieftw's comment?...the one I was responding to? Dez is on vocals in the live clips...dukowski is being interviewed.

  • He is extremely smart, I could not have said the things he did. I knew everything I would have said there, and I would have looked dumb.

  • your wrong knew punk is not bands like sum 41 and green day they were never punk but i think there some kids that are saying fuck it and making it happen

  • Reminds me of the shows i go to

  • damn...he makes a VERY good point...gigs are just outlets for fucked up kids, such as myself...we feel good afterwards!! its VERY FUCKIN HEALTHY to get those unexpressed emotions out during pits!! punk's NOT dead!!

  • @tonkpilser fuck yeah bro this shit was fuckin rad

  • @iamdhump hell yeah man... but its true though...i like his views on shit, mainstream society does not and WILL NEVER understand the punk youth!!! hahaha

  • @tonkpilser oath, this is what we have been telling idiots for a long time... punk is NOT dead, many people simply never see this REAL punk which is still living and breathing all over the fking world !

  • @jezzaskates this is very tue....its not even close to bein dead!!! but its sad to say that society will never let the people see the REAL punk thats out there!! they cover it up with calling stupid ass "bands" like Hollywood Undead punk!?!?! thats a load of SHIT!!! and its sad to see all the originals selling out, green day is the biggest sellout of all time!! they forgot their roots!! but i only respect them for their old shit!! haha what the fuck has this world come to??!!!!

  • yea man i love punk and this is wat it is about and that is police violence that is just a punks just trying to have fun and the cops have to ruin it cause they are scared of our passion

  • Be violent, and be aggressive

  • fuck the system...fuck the police...punk is not dead

  • its called slam dancing. violence occured because of the police. they started the violence, the punks stood up for themselves

  • Punx must hold concerts while world championship soccer is played.

Or some other time where the blue thugs of the Pope are busy with other things.

Ehr, Benito Mussoli and Adolph Hitler where both Roman Catholics, filthy lying popish medi outlet!

  • Is there an uncut version of this interview? The parts with the girl talking were completely cut out of it.

  • This actually isn't a bad interview. I expected an alienating Maury Povich/Jerry Springer thing, but Dukowski is actually allowed to make his point. Odd, since these days alternate opinions aren't usually allowed on shows with politically-motivated target audiences.

  • man, fuck this, when the hell is it against the law to have a good time at a punk rock concert. because you have a club, a helment and the word "police" on your back doesn't mean you have more authority than us. this is fucken ridiculous

  • was this from before henry rollins? like with the circle jerks guy?

  • MOIN!!!!!! FACKA AAAAA!! YEES

  • Black Flag+Dez Cadena+Jealous Again=Awesome

  • viagra gives me a BONER!!!

  • HOHD COHAH!

  • FUCK COPS AND FUCK BRO-CORE TOUGH GUYS

  • i would love to break the jaw of any cop tryin to make me leave a concert

  • @justsomemic FUCK THE LAPD BACK THEN! Those fuckers were just a bunch of nazis. I was there back in 1981 and that shit was too much.

  • @ManFromMelbourne Fuck you ! youre not from L.A.. the LAPD were fucked up back then.

  • @ManFromMelbourne All right faggot! IM callin the POLICE!

  • @crushedandcured "Hey, faggot! Where's the nearest Mc Donalds?

Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death!

  • "....So, I threw the rock."

  • if i was at a flag show and some pigs turned off the power i'd riot too

  • i love how "journalists" in the mid to late 80s act so dumbfounded by the prospect of police brutality, like it was something new...thank god someone was rolling during the rodney king beating or theyd never admit to any wrong doing on the polices part

  • I remember this when I grew up in LA in the 70s and 80s. hey1 that's Rona Barett!

  • Hell yeah! Black Flag was the band that really blew my mind! First the Sex Pistols but Black Flag at 13...The most influential U.S. punk/hardcore band!

  • hahaha idk man i jus like how they fight for the smaller people thats what i mean by anarchists i wasnt using the term right bro. i guess the correct term would be minority or something.

  • Punk's not dead, it just smells funny.

  • tee hee.

    you just made me giggle.

i'm writing that one down dude. :D

  • @jjevans2009 like cheese.

  • the nazis and the punks? nice grandma

  • Fucking pigs.

  • punks not dead its gone back underground.......where it should be

  • thank you some one says it you must be a punk

  • eh dont really consider myself a "punk". i think the term is kinda meaningless these days. but ive always been a fan of the music and the message

  • meaningless?? if its underground and if thats where is should be then being a punk is something to be proud of the music is still here the message never left us

  • well the term "punk" has been rendered meaningless since 2002 when it started being used as another word for "alternative" which itself is a meaningless term because most of the bands in that category are mainstream as fuck: i.e. Fallout Boy, the late Green Day, Good Charlotte, ect. now its been hijacked as a tool to take the anger and frustration of todays youth and turn it to more constructive activity like buying retro band tees

i agree punk itself is not dead but the label is..

  • nah fuck that i know a bunch a punks still doing the same thing today as if it was 1982 ro something punk is where it needs to be underground and you know what ....theres a whole lot of us and we dont give a fuck what the mainstream says now rave onthe other hand is dead & rap naz said it himself

  • @berdoDRUNK fuck yes dude, fuck the posers, they wont make me quit living the lifestyle I love!

  • @ladyintheradiator187 a sad fucking day for music. Long live Punk Rock.

  • @nofxopivyrancid same here man. i feel ya completely

  • @nofxopivyrancid I think it's pretty much dead now except in a few small pockets maybe. I used to be a punk in the late 80s-90s. It was a hell of a lot different then.

  • @DSXmachine It was pretty mainstream by then already

    Nofx lmfao

  • Punk revolution!

  • trust me there are some "real" punk bands still around and just emerging youre just not looking in the right places

  • hey buddy i agree green day are fags. but they are no posers buddy. i mean i respect them. they stand for rights i stand for they are a very politically open minded band. they fight for anarchists.

  • @crymethemoon Green Day fights for anarchists? Was that before or after their pepsi commercials?

  • green day aren't a politically open minded band, nor do they fight for anarchists. criticizing how shitty america is transcends genres, and is not exclusive to punk, and nothing in their music relates to anarchist philosophy at all.

  • they create there politically minded image because it sells records to conformist kids who want to feel like their rebelling in the mainstream.

  • what the fuck hey dude iam a punk they are noy one of us they dont stand for us green day is was apart of that 90's pop sounds like punk bullshit now they are apart of that fag emo bullshit

  • agreed

  • those were amazing times. when punk was DANGEROUS!! :)

  • el punk la lleva ujo de perra

  • Punk not dead

  • I just farted.

  • @clitring1 U Deserve To Die

  • And the reason you think that is because you're a retard.

  • i hate wat punk has become becuse now its just a style that little guy emos and goths try to copy llike those fags Green day i wish there where still more real punk bands around but theres only a few left

  • @classicrock7530

fuck man, there's still a shit ton of good punk bands out there. you've got internet.

  • @scratchbrad na shit but name some ill look them up have u heard of the adicts or the casualties

    <
