Girl, ignore the non-supportive comments. I am so over the natural vs. non-natural debates. Why do we have to force ourselves into the natural vs. non-natural boxes? Just wear your hair the way you wear your hair. What does it matter if a woman who calls herself "natural" gets a weave or flat-irons her hair or gets a Brazilian Keratin Treatment? It isn't that big of a deal.
In agreement, ppl w/o natural hair WISH that they had the guts to wear their OWN natural hair out, I get that from women all the time. As a 100% natural haired woman myself, I plan on pressing my hair and rockin' a weave every now and then until I get to my desired length for it. Switching it up is cool sometimes.

Girl your hair looks good. You've got some good growth going on! And there is nothing wrong with switching up your style. It doesn't mean that you love your hair any less in its natural state it just means that you like experimenting. Besides, weaves can be very beneficial for those who are trying to grow their hair out (if done correctly). Just let the negativity roll right off of your shoulders and keep it moving. It's your hair not theirs.
I actually dont shampoo y hair but once a week as well. I Co-wash ALLL the TIME! Much better than shampooing. I use an organic conditioner and then I put a leave in conditioner in. I also bantu knott my hair with wrapping lotion and then when it dries I take it out! Thanks xGoldn for being able to embrace your hair! We are BLACK not WHITE AND ETC! Im natural and I love it!

My point of view on it is when i look at a woman with relaxed hair i remember how i felt afraid to show my natural hair, a little ashamed perfect example is tyras "good hair episode. i think all black woman should grow to be comfortable with wearing a love their napptural hair. but at the same time i think its perfectly fine to be versatile and experiment with different looks :)
try vegetable oil, or olive oil! they don't have fragrance, or mineral oil...like baby oil, so you will have less of a allergic reaction, and it works just as good!

Honey, these "Natural Hair Nazi's" are all over Youtube! They make it their business to watch each and every single hair/weave/wig tutorial on Youtube, and leave nasty and rude comments. I just don't get it. If they don't like weave or wigs, why are they even watching the videos!?!
I feel you 100% they're all a bunch of haters.. you do what you want to do with your hair. They can offer some healthy hair advice but don't beat someone down because they want to wear their hair a certain way.
some people view their hair as an outward expression of how they feel about themselves, them wearing their hair natural represents their pride in being black and their acceptance of themselves, so I think when people have negative reactions to someone wearing a weave or having a relaxer, they view it as them not having pride in their hair or they assume that women wearing weaves or relaxers hate themselves when in reality hair is not a political statement to everyone. to most ppl its just hair

It's all about personal preference. I like my hair relaxed and that in NO WAY means that I've been "brainwashed by the white man to think my natural hair is not beautiful". downing another female on the way she rocks her hair is self esteem for some women...it's a shame some women have to do that to build herself up...too much pride to let another woman know she actually likes her hair...some women are just not as secure with themselves...

Its your hair, if you want to dye it green and put a jeri curl in it, thats up to you. We are all beautiful, natural, relaxed, bald, whatever...

braids are sort of different, because its a natural hairstyle..but I think the reason ppl left comments about your weave, was b/c they didn't see the point in you chopping your hair, then imediately covering it up, I think they thought you defeated the purpose of being natural..that's just my point of view about the situation..but I agree be you!

good point! I have been growing my natural hair out for about 8 month but I love being able to change my style up. For me, its about growing healthly hair and being able to wear other styles that wont damage my hair.

I totally agree with you! It's JUST a person's choice of hair. I think some are comfortable with seeing people like them and not wanting to realize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with another if their hair is permed, weaved, etc. Who is anyone to impose their opinion on another as if it were law? Like you said, women are all beautiful, no matter the hair texture or style. We should embrace the sisterhood of being women and let the trivial arrogance go of who is better based on hair.

i think it's different for some (NO OFFENSE) overly natural people... the new younger crowd of natural girls are embracing the different things we can do with our hair, while the "older overly natural" people are like fros and cornrows, ya know? there's just a new wave of natural girls that are adding their own style and flair to their natural hair and the old people don't like it :) LOL just my opinion

your hair is beautiful and there is nothing wrong with a weave! I wore a sew in for 18 mnths and grw out an entire full perm..thats how i transitioned!

Girl your hair looks good. You've got some good growth going on! And there is nothing wrong with switching up your style. It doesn't mean that you love your hair any less in its natural state it just means that you like experimenting. Besides, weaves can be very beneficial for those who are trying to grow their hair out (if done correctly). Just let the negativity roll right off of your shoulders and keep it moving. It's your hair not theirs.

I actually dont shampoo y hair but once a week as well. I Co-wash ALLL the TIME! Much better than shampooing. I use an organic conditioner and then I put a leave in conditioner in. I also bantu knott my hair with wrapping lotion and then when it dries I take it out! Thanks xGoldn for being able to embrace your hair! We are BLACK not WHITE AND ETC! Im natural and I love it!

I dont believe in all that natural vs. perm crap...Women should be allowed to be versatile...i should be able to rock a lace front one day and wear dreads the next its my hair and as long as i look good thats all the matters...its jus hair

well i think ur hair looks gorgeous! i just recently started my transition n the reason is 4 healthier hair. all the chemicals i used 4 my hair damaged it completely. i cant wait 2 see how my hair will turn out when it becomes completely natural!

I agree vedry well said! My point of view on it is when i look at a woman with relaxed hair i remember how i felt afraid to show my natural hair, a little ashamed perfect example is tyras "good hair episode. i think all black woman should grow to be comfortable with wearing a love their napptural hair. but at the same time i think its perfectly fine to be versatile and experiment with different looks :)

try vegetable oil, or olive oil! they don't have fragrance, or mineral oil...like baby oil, so you will have less of a allergic reaction, and it works just as good!

Uhh! I love you girl ... no homo lol but i say the same thing...im transitioning myself and i had my lil weave in last month...i dont see what the problem is. as long as your happy with yourself and your hair...rock it however you want!

Honey, these "Natural Hair Nazi's" are all over Youtube! They make it their business to watch each and every single hair/weave/wig tutorial on Youtube, and leave nasty and rude comments. I just don't get it. If they don't like weave or wigs, why are they even watching the videos!?!

some people view their hair as an outward expression of how they feel about themselves, them wearing their hair natural represents their pride in being black and their acceptance of themselves, so I think when people have negative reactions to someone wearing a weave or having a relaxer, they view it as them not having pride in their hair or they assume that women wearing weaves or relaxers hate themselves when in reality hair is not a political statement to everyone. to most ppl its just hair

It's all about personal preference. I like my hair relaxed and that in NO WAY means that I've been "brainwashed by the white man to think my natural hair is not beautiful". I like relaxed hair and I like natural hair. Don't judge me by the way I wear my hair. and honestly, there are more important things to think and talk about.

"Naturals" tend to discriminate just the same as "Relaxed" women. Its crazy how ppl cant praise one without discriminating against the other. As if co-existing isnt an option. And this nonesense applies to Slim vs. Thick women and other cirterias.
