yup sakai was not his usual, the best dish according to the judges were from the challenger, also he made 5 dish to sakai's 3, also Sakai just used usual recipes with turnip and added truffles, base on the category taste and originality the challenger won, i like Sakai though but not in this one

seemed like Sakai wasnt his usual cheery self. wonder if he kind of knew he had the upper hand against a younger chef of the same French background, and felt kind of like it wasn't a challenge. just seemed that way while he was cooking, didn't it? wasnt really into it like usual.

do you think that the people on the show dont compare the scores when they have a high difference just so they dont embarrass the loser?

they didnt start comparing scores until later in the series, when they had 4 judges, because then they could see if it was a draw or not.
