ha ha lol u r sooo funny i have had bad experiances too1 one time when i was little i wanted my hair to be less thick and alittle thinner but the stylist actually made it THICKER! keep on making these vid i also so LOVE your vlogs and videos with Luke he i SO funny and doing make up on him is like the cherry on top!

Gosh, I dislike going to get my hair cut as well! Also, I LOVE YOUR SCARF. I don't know where to get scarves like that in Canada, though, for a decent price. =/

I find it the same...sometimes it goes well and sometimes it doesn't. I do think it's really unfair that people keep slating you for voicing your opinion of your salon experiences as it has nothing to do with them. Yeah maybe some people don't voice their opinions loud enough but when speaking for myself I can say that I do and sometimes the hairdresser just doesn't listen!!! Sorry for disagreeing with some of you closed minded stubborn people but thats just what I think!

I work part time at Tony&Guy in London, im only 17 but im firm with my stylists so as in without being a bitch i tell them what i want and how i want it exactly and when theyre cutting it i keep reassuring them to not go over how much i said i want off. and ingrid 4 years is wayy too long you shoulkd get it trimmed once a month. your lucky she didnt have to chop it all off

I had a stylist who did something like this to me.
Me- "Heya, i want some layers, but i don't want the ends to look too thin."
Him - "Yes yes, i will make you look wonderful, come sit."
"So no bangs, just the layers."
him - "I know I know, you sit."
end result - EMO HAIR! Not that i have anything against them but i am a professional. cannot afford to do this. and when he was cutting it i kept protesting but he kept patting my shoulder and telling me that "he fix"

get a professional hairdresser scissors and take of the dead ends yourself!
my hair breaks and splits easily, so i got my scissors and i trim my hair every 3-4 weeks. that way the hairdresser doesn't have to take of as much when i eventually do go to a salon!

I know! I asked my hairdresser to make my hair short and gradually longer in the front.. And she just cut off the back of my hair and shortened a bit of my hair in the front!! And I had LONG hair! OMG I cried when I got home ;( Went to a different salon and they fixed what could be fixed.. Didn't get the hair that I wanted and it took me a lot of courage to do it.... and they messed up.. damn..
Now every time she does something wrong I tell her "No! I don't like it! I don't want that!!
I've had that problem with hair salons in the past they don't listen and chop loads off I waited 2 years before I got mine cut just because they don't listen and chop to much off or they don't do the colour I want it to be so annoying like it's your hair you should choose not someone else

i totally understand what you mean! I had the same hair dresser for 12 years and last year she dyed my hair and I was NOT happy and on top of things my hair started to fall, I was sooo upset I even went to the doctors (thankfully everything was alright) but I haven't gone there since and I'm pretty sure I never will! I havent dyed my hair either (im too scared) but have thankfully found another stylist who's EXCELLENT wish I'd found him earlier as he is so honest and actually listens to me!
I've been growing my hair for a while now and when I go to the salon, I tell my hairdresser to just trim the ends so it stays healthy, but doesn't look shorter xx
I went to an expensive salon and asked for a long bob to my shoulders.. she cut it to my chin :( it was so horrible and now my hair is dead and it has just barely grown past my shoulders.. what a bad experience! I'm never asking for that again! The problem was: she kept making one side shorter than the other and kept cutting, cutting, cutting... one side is still shorter than the other :(
I recently got a haircut and I asked for 2 inches off and she cut 6 instead! my hair is barely passed my shoulders now and i can't curl it anymore because it is too short. She also colored my hair red instead of brown. stupid hair salon.
@dncecomp4ever you can curl any length of hair. you just have to use the right size curling iron. my hair is 3 inches past my shoulders and i can do loose waves, big curls, everything! it just depends
everyone seems to say they hate salons, but the problem is that people are too afraid to vocalize what they want as a client. you need to be a little bit of a bitch. they would rather make sure your hair is healthy (and cut off too much) then you go home and be like, "um, i still have dead ends?" you need to clarify that you understand that you NEED more off, but you only want a little off. it's not the stylists job, it's the clients. (my sister works at a very high end place)

FUCKING cry about it.. God it's fucking hair. It's not like you had a fucking finger cut off or anything like that. I understand having long hair, getting it cut & being a bit devastated when it's gone. I about died when I got 6 inches cut off my hair after my son was born. It was really uncomfortable, but I realized that shorter hair was fun too! Longer hair seems to be a little more versatile though...at least for me.
fyi thin hair looks thicker when shorter...you dont have to go crazy just not to your belly button, offense because you look great just a tip if ya want

ugh that always happens to me too! I can't even find a good regular stylist! I had such long hair, and then one day the stylist cut off 5 inches just because! I walked out with such short shoulder-lengthish hair!! argh!

I just went to get my hair cut and I asked the lady to keep the length of my hair but to freshen up my layers. but do you know what she did?! she took my curly hair and straightened it! I should have left right then because the next thing she did was chop off 4 inches of my hair!! I'm never letting her near my head EVER again. I totally know what you mean. I definitly agree with you Ingrid..I recently got my hair cut off 4 inches (I wanted half of an inch off...and my hair was in good shape)....I was so upset considering I'm actually trying to grow it out. She didn't listen or anything, ugh...so annoying and really bad service...stylists should listen to clients, end of story.
@TearOfMangolia Hair is dead lol? It's a living part of your body period. It needs nutrition like the rest of the body to grow, just like your skin. Nothing on or in your body is "dead".

i totally understand what you mean! I had the same hair dresser for 12 years and last year she dyed my hair and I was NOT happy and on top of things my hair started to fall, I was sooo upset I even went to the doctors (thankfully everything was alright) but I haven't gone there since and I'm pretty sure I never will! I havent dyed my hair either (im too scared) but have thankfully found another stylist who's EXCELLENT wish I'd found him earlier as he is so honest and actually listens to me!

I've been growing my hair for a while now and when I go to the salon, I tell my hairdresser to just trim the ends so it stays healthy, but doesn't look shorter xx

I went to an expensive salon and asked for a long bob to my shoulders.. she cut it to my chin :( it was so horrible and now my hair is dead and it has just barely grown past my shoulders.. what a bad experience! I'm never asking for that again! The problem was: she kept making one side shorter than the other and kept cutting, cutting, cutting... one side is still shorter than the other :(

I recently got a haircut and I asked for 2 inches off and she cut 6 instead! my hair is barely passed my shoulders now and i can't curl it anymore because it is too short. She also colored my hair red instead of brown. stupid hair salon.

@dncecomp4ever you can curl any length of hair. you just have to use the right size curling iron. my hair is 3 inches past my shoulders and i can do loose waves, big curls, everything! it just depends

everyone seems to say they hate salons, but the problem is that people are too afraid to vocalize what they want as a client. you need to be a little bit of a bitch. they would rather make sure your hair is healthy (and cut off too much) then you go home and be like, "um, i still have dead ends?" you need to clarify that you understand that you NEED more off, but you only want a little off. it's not the stylists job, it's the clients. (my sister works at a very high end place)

I understand having long hair, getting it cut & being a bit devastated when it's gone. I about died when I got 6 inches cut off my hair after my son was born. It was really uncomfortable, but I realized that shorter hair was fun too! Longer hair seems to be a little more versatile though...at least for me.

ugh that always happens to me too! I can't even find a good regular stylist! I had such long hair, and then one day the stylist cut off 5 inches just because! I walked out with such short shoulder-lengthish hair!! argh!

I completely understand what you're saying!!! I've had long hair since I was 14 (I'm 21) because I had horrible experiences with salons as a kid! I have all the same symptoms when I go to the salon... I'm so glad you were able to find a hairdresser that makes you feel comfortable, I know i was when I found mine. :)

I completely understand. I just went to get my hair cut and I asked the lady to keep the length of my hair but to freshen up my layers. but do you know what she did?! she took my curly hair and straightened it! I should have left right then because the next thing she did was chop off 4 inches of my hair!! I'm never letting her near my head EVER again. I totally know what you mean. I definitly agree with you Ingrid..I recently got my hair cut off 4 inches (I wanted half of an inch off...and my hair was in good shape)....I was so upset considering I'm actually trying to grow it out. She didn't listen or anything, ugh...so annoying and really bad service...stylists should listen to clients, end of story.
