I wouldn't say the pitch is so off... It's buzzy though. That's classic beginner-bassoon sound. You have the right fingerings and not too many blips in sound (blips that happen when a play doesn't change fingerings fast enough or fumbles). And you seem comfortable sitting. You're on the right track. The point is bassoon is f*ing difficult, and everyone who posted a complaint doesn't understand the intense work it takes.
T-T this is cannibalism to bassoonists and all bassoon kind .. i just finished my 8th grade year this May and I knew how to play the bassoon in 3months and i knew how to play this song ... just .... just go home .... you make me cry and the bassoons cry too T.T
@ccoasterdesigner It doesn't even sound oboeish. I would know as I play both. It sounds buzzy like a sax... I think its because he's using a plastic reed tho.
mira JULIAMIJU, la puta mierda te vas tu vale??? que te crees que tu eres mejor que los demas, anda ya niñata primero aprende a comprender es esfuerzo qye hay en aprender algo y luego respondes
i suggest you get a better brand of reed and perhaps move the first wire closest to the opening forward becasue it seems to open but keep working there is no such thing as perfect but practice makes improvements
You should make more of a kissy face whenever ou play--and doing that should fix a large amount of things. I agree with franchoix2, that if you play it in the lower register it sounds far better.
Drop your jaw and make more of an 'o' sound with your lips. You're pressing far too firm, making it -way- sharp and you're getting the reedy sound because you're not far enough up on the reed. So move up, open up, and when you do that you'll be able to blow more and keep it in tune. Way too pinched, and your lips are tucked under.
Pucker more...like your gonna kiss someone...your bitting too much. Good job though!

Are you Putting Your teeth on the bassoon reed?
If so dont do that curve your lips over your teeth and put more reed in your mouth Then you will have that nice dark warm bassoon sound
Keep Practicing : )
