@Volodeas there are probably electric wires. They are probably pretty thin or the camera didn't catch it. If they did take the wires out, it's because GE doesn't make electric locomotives anymore

I don't like how you disregarded a Ferromex on that CSX train to see GE locomotives that were going to come back anyway. Ferromex doesn't come back in 10 minutes, you know...
Still not a fan of the GE GEVO standardization for specifications. UP GE's are now looking like BNSF GE's... sad. Wish GE would go back to asking the railroads what "personalized" specs they would like to have on their locos...
Last year a BNSF unit ran off the end of the test track. No major damage just dirty trucks! I remember an Amtrak E60 also ran off the end, but that was a long time ago!
I am a "P" Company fan, but I do have a soft spot for the MILW! We camped at the Wisconsin Dells last year and our campground was across the street from the CP Rail (ex MILW) main. I was trackside every chance I got! I did post a video of the Empire Builder passing in front of the campground.
Great video!Cant wait to see the new model.I cant believe it but i saw that first CSX train in Chillicothe IL. a few days earlier on the old ATSF!Im posting the video now!
Hey Foamers has anyone noticed the TWo extra brake cylinders per truck on the side. If you want to see what I'm talking about watch this in Hi Quality and pause the video at exactly 1:43 and this will give you a perfect view of the rear of the Hi-AD truck on the rear of 6601 as it goes by.
The 6601 is a new type of unit called an ES44C-4. It rides on six axles, but has only four traction motors. This is referred to as an A1A-A1A wheel arrangement. BNSF has ordered 25 of these units and will be testing them extensively.
why were there catenarys but no electric wires???

@shadowknight227 why dont they use electric locos, cause they are more powerfull than diesel?
Volodeas 10 months ago
@Volodeas I think they probably do, but they are not made as much as their diesel counterparts.

really, and GE is starting to look like the SD50, what im trying to say is that theyre losing the dip on the top of the loco and it kinda looks wierd
rockguitarist946 2 years ago
i must say, it almost looked as though they were going faster in reverse!

I have a couple of questions about the test track: 1. How long is it?
2. How fast do you think they were going when the UP units were leading??
Thanks,
Bry

1. Four miles.
2. 50 to 60 mph.

Looks like they are using the U.P. locomotives for load tests.

seems kinda dumb these days, dont ya think???
flbmxdad 3 years ago
You'd have to take that up with BNSF... they must not think it's too dumb if they're ordering 25 of them at $2-$3million a piece!
maineboy1979 3 years ago
BNSF is going to put them in high speed intermodal service from what i have been told about them.
