  • * curiosity core falls endless through portals *

curiosity sphere : where are we going?

  • "In case the laws of physics don't apply in the future, God help you."

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

  • Try this:

When doing this with any item, place you in front of a wall. As near as possible of it. Then place a yellow portal in front of you. I bet it´s gonna hurt a lot.

  • "Where are we going?"

  • Ways to die in real life.

Shoot a portal beside a emancipation grid

Go in the middle and stick your arm in the portal (other portal is where)

Then, put your other hand through the grid

    ARM IS CUT

  • Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee *BZZT*

  • for why this video haven´t sound?

  • @avengerangel1 way back when i recorded this the computer i had was unable to record its own sound due to a horrible sound card.

  • @avengerangel1 dat grammar

  • Jump in with it.

  • when he looks at himself in the portal he probaly thinks:

where are we going? are we going back?

  • *chell drop the curiosity core in the infinite porta loop*

Curiosity core: where are we going?

  • You should have jumped in after it XD

  • It's like an endless fountain of cores.

  • keep pressing 1

  • HOw do you get those empty rooms???

  • @TheBetterGamer it was some ancient puzzle pack i had where at the end was a room with all the spheres.

  • @TheBetterGamer Get portal playground.

  • you should of put a portal in floor the celing

  • "Goodbye, my only friend. Oh, did you think I meant you?"

    *drops in*

  • And thats how to turn a Curiosity sphere into a Anger sphere

  • "Where are you taking me?" says the curiosity sphere.

  • lolz NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... wait... didnt i just see that?

  • Thats so awesome!!!!

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • ???WHAT IS THAT???

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    lololololololoololololololololololololololololoolol

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhl

  • lol if you look at the screen it goes slow but look just under the screen where the like thing is but in the middle. it goes fast

  • @sn1pdude44258 damn thats true

  • Curiosity killed the sphere...

  • @KyaserinChan heh

  • This makes me think of chees. WTF

  • @sgngv2 HOW DOES THIS MAKE U THINK OF CHEESE?!?!?!/1

  • @bluemew123 exactly? O_O

  • @sgngv2 DAMN YOU! Now I want cheese too.

  • @jursle LOL

  • that looks like fun :D

  • Welcome to the aperture science perpetual scienctific exploratory gravity train.

  • If you pause and holf left arrow you can play snake!

  • @Craxxet I never knew that! Holy Crap!

  • hey that looks like fun *jumps in*

  • Limbo under it.

  • Loop: See Loop.

  • "Oh HeY yOuR tHe LaDy FrOm ThE tEsT! HI!

  • Momentum, a function of mass and velocity is conserved between portals.

  • @LordSensidon0 in other terms, speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out

  • How is there more than one at a time?

Why is is going in an angle?

    How did it speed up?

    Where are we going?

  • I laughed when it said "Are you coming back?"

  • "WHAT THE HELL IS ALL THIS?!"

  • "Where are we going?"

  • If there's that many, why wont they let me keep one? I've always wanted my own Curiosity Core. :(

  • i think its strange how it speeds up and slows down

  • Urgh, looks like theres more than one since its falling that fast...TO. MUCH. CURIOSITY!

  • Vilocity with the enter and exit vilocity of the objects going through portals. Gravity no du.

    Force. Other stuff I can't remember. :P

  • @wolfrapter in laymens terms speedy thing goes in speedy thning goes out.

  • Wait no they do have wind and sucktion. "The cube tubes"

  • @AJ121official

Yes they would try to put all the physics in this game because portal is a physics game. Not like any regular game.

They probley don't have wind effect... Then again why would they cuz your in a building the entire game.

  • lol people discussing gravity,

This is a video game - do you think they'd actually add in all the factors of physics to this video game?

  • For sure they did, Source has the Havok-Physics-Engine. The cars in hl2 even have gears configured. You could use the source engine to teach physics in lower classes!

  • Who are you?

    What is that?

    Where are we going?

    Ooh, whats in here?

  • @rimlanin are you coming back?

  • Just FYI for everyone discussing physics: The speed of gravity is a constant, once you reach the actual speed you will not exceed it.

Which is why shit doesn't randomly accelerate to the speed of light for no reason.

  • Gravity does not have a speed. It's the acceleration that's constant (at least in one place).

In fact, things do accelerate infinitely as they fall, but the increasing air friction prevents them from exceeding a certain speed depending on their shape.

In a perfect vacuum, you would actually accelerate to (close to) the speed of light, for example when falling into a black hole (in theory).

  • Yeah, I saw that when I pressed post. My bad.

Though I really don't think the air friction in space (of which there is extremely little) would slow planetary bodies down to a reasonable level. While this is essentially the peanut gallery discussing physics, I'm still going to ask, wouldn't stellar winds and other such phenomena provide resistance to a planetary body as it orbits?

  • no sound..epic fail

  • Hardly epic.

  • Would be better if the video had SOUND.

  • Yeah, I turned my sound dial all the way up, and nothing happened.

  • curiosity killed the core...

  • I thought it was a fire pit.

  • "Ooooh.. What's in Here?"

"Why am I seeing the same thing every second"

"Fuck, Get me out of this place."

"SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF THIS FUCKING ROOM!"

  • and this is how the anger core came to be?

  • Yep.

  • Yes.

  • Where we going?

  • If you speed up the video by dragging the mouse along the video the thing goes backwards!!

  • amazing :P

  • @littlebigman919 no shit

  • @littlebigman919 what do u mean?

  • @littlebigman919 Doplar effect.

  • @littlebigman919 WTF HAHA

  • @littlebigman919 and it goes normal if you go back!

  • @littlebigman919 OFCOURSE

  • @littlebigman919 omg you r right! XD

  • Si adelantan el video parece que la bola va para atras.

  • It looks like there's more than one after it gets going good and fast

  • thts what she said

  • It's the same with objects, you continue gaining speed until you reach the terminal velocity. We (and chell) ARE objects. but with some diferences, lol =P

  • "speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out"

  • its a multiplying core train! choo choo :D

  • ever notice how object put in portals never gain momentum and go farther they just fall the same way every time

  • Terminal velocity friend.

  • They do gain momentum. The game engine just has a maximum speed to prevent the game from freezing from every infinite portal loop. Long story short there's the point where air resistance=force of gravity and all changes in speed stop.

  • its actualy realistic because of terminal velocity meaning everything stops getting faster after a certain speed

  • Yeah air drag balances gravity after a while. If you had a vacuum tube with portals at either end I guess something dropped through it would keep accelerating at 10g till... Ive no idea.

  • not really. it is because you can see the whole place in portal_1 that surrounds portal_2. in this case the core is in front of a portal you can see it in the other. so it is like there is 2. i had a map ( i think i still have it somewhere ) for portal and i did the same with the cubes. they felt thru the portal with accuracy that you actually wondered how it doesnt touch the floor! but then i opened a portal, waited a bit and then joined the fallfest. but the cube crushed me :D

  • If it's being accelerated faster, wouldn't it hit itself at some point?

  • no think of the physics, at one point you reach terminal velocity and then you cant fall any faster.

  • yea, in the game it says you get faster and faster, which in physics you would, but this is just a game.

  • No, when you're in an atmosphere air resistance means that once you reach a certain speed you stop accelarating (if falling.)

  • Yeah, exactly. It would keep accelerating until, eventually, it'd reached terminal velocity. With no change in resistance it would not change speed from thereon.

  • What happens if you jump throught it?

    Whatever happens it sounds fun.

  • what achievement was that?

  • None, his friend just logged on

  • it was just a friend logging on ^^

  • what is that OHHH that thing has numbers on it...for 30 minutes i stood there and lisitned to it do that then i fried it

  • you have like a 6 minute timer.

  • lol!

  • Oh hey, you're the ladies from the test.

  • luls thats epic XD

  • look at that thing. no that other thing, no that one. no no THAT! one, what about this one (chell slaps it ) XD honestly they should of made a mute button on it XDDDD

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Where are we going?.

  • Do you smell something falling?

  • i've never seen a better use for the endless fall =,)

  • You could probably use that as a staircase lol

  • Who are yoooouuu?

Hey that thing has numbers on it.

    Where am I going?

    Where am I going?

    Where am I going?

    Where am I going?

    Where am I going?

    Where am I going?

    etc etc lol

  • do you smell something burning?

  • Look at that thing- No that thing!

  • your like: lol and the core is like: AHHHHHHH

  • shoot another blue portal so the core breaks XD

  • kind of looks like a bunch of curiosity cores being shot out of glados lol

  • I was never able to do that!

    nice job!!!

  • haha leave him there, he'll be happy for eternity asking questions about whats going on.

  • Uhm, that is not hard to do at all.

You just shoot a blue on the floor and and orange on the wall. Put the object in the blue one and wala.

May take a little time but it doesn't involve any skill really

  • yes but i hade that going for a good 15 minutes without it slodly moving near a side adn tehn falling out of the portal. that is where the practice comes in

  • @NatalieSama trolled

  • @NatalieSama It actually is really hard to do with an innanimate object because you aren't the one going to the portal, so it takes a while to recalibrate if you angled it wrong.

  • @NatalieSama it's "Voila!" :D

  • @NatalieSama yeah, but Aragaith did it, recorded it, uploaded it and had over 27,000 people want to see it... AND YOU DIDN'T.

    lol

  • Did you make that map just for that? looks like it took some skilL!

  • lol

  • Theoretically it should build up mometum forever. If there were no atmosphere to cause friction it would eventually reach light speed, in theory.

  • no it hsouldn't actually, there's a force were gravity and the object have met the full force and it reaches the point were it can't keep getting faster, watched mythbusters :p

  • it's called "terminal velocity"...

  • that force would be the air resistance... which he was specifically speculating about what would happen without it...

  • I think Darkinsigniosis is correct. Terminal velocity occurs when the force of friction due to atmosphere is equal and opposite to the force of gravity, but, as he said, if there were no atmosphere, then terminal velocity could never be reached. In reality, things cannot accelerate beyond light speed because they either lose their mass or their potential energy as they accelerate, but a pair of portals repeatedly raising a falling object at no energy cost would never run out of potential.

  • Normal falling objects in reality lose potential energy in exchange for kinetic energy as they approach the object of their attraction and have less distance over which they can fall, but a pair of portals like that equates to an infinitely deep hole with an approximately constant force of gravity, so not only would the object reach light speed, it would surpass it and continue to accelerate until something stopped it, assuming no atmospheric resistance.

  • Also, if you assume this is happening on a planet's surface, the planet on which this occurs would be slowly accelerated towards infinite velocity in the direction of the curiosity core, since gravity attracts both objects toward each other, but they can never nullify that attraction with the resistance that comes from a surface. The only way these impossible things would not happen is if there were some resistance build up or if the portal consumes energy that eventually runs out.

  • Not trying to be a smartass here, just helping: Aperture Science states that portals are rips in the fabric of space, so technically they shouldn't consume energy...that is, unless our universe is connected to that computer in the Matrix. :P

  • That is a good point. I only mention the possibility of energy being consumed since, otherwise, the buildup of gravitational potential energy that comes from being "portaled" upwards would violate the law of conservation of matter and energy. Thank you for your contribution.

  • ...My head hurts =P

  • flamingrubard x5 = Portal

  • its not teleporting its just like a hallway thats suuuuuupeer short connecting two points

  • lol my head hurts too. eff u and ur physics. so ur saying earth will just get faster ans faster or is the opposite gravitational pull from other planets + sun= controlled speed

  • That is an interesting point I had not considered. Now that I think about it, the force of gravity between Earth and the other object is changing directions with respect to the rest of the solar system as the Earth rotates about its axis, so maybe it would cancel out, but it still might introduce some "wobble" into the orbit, I'm thinking.

  • Just need a big computer to manage all those small perterbations really.

  • Woah, nice one! Well, you're better at it than me :P

  • Well. It was curious.

  • no sound :(

  • Hold on Lil' Buddy!!!!

  • From what!?!?!?!?!?!? AAAHHH!!!

  • You are Sadistically awesome.

  • wiieeeee =3

  • Hehehe poor thing

  • its probably thinking "wtf is going on" "oh there she is, there she is, there she is, OH there she is, no, there she is!" "where will this portal take me?" ect.

  • Then she'll probably be like "I'm getting tired. How do I get out, lady? Why are you standing there? Are you frozen? I want to get out. Or maybe I don't. This is so much fun!

    Jump in with me!!! X3"

  • "Is that a gun? Is something burning? Oooh, that has numbers on it! What's that? No, that. It's shiny. Oooh, what's over there? Where will this take me? Who are you? Oh, are you the lady from the experiment? Hiii, lady! Oh, that's shiny! Take me over there!"

  • needz more sound

  • agreed

  • yup

  • Yea

  • Sure does

  • indeed

  • Damn Straight.

  • yes

  • YA! i agree

  • uh huh
