The way to shpw these again in driv ein or theatre is to clear the music rights from APM and Carlin and others, since "canned music" was used so often. Fortunately, as one John Kricfalusi [ has proven it is possible, but not as easy as just subring to Capitol, whcih used to supply this. [It's the reason that intermission clips sounds like an old Jay Ward or Hanna-Barbera cartoon or Columbia Pictures sitcom, to audiences then aS NOW.]
Before moving to Taiwan I lived right down the road from a drive-in, I really liked it a lot and would go often..but then my car started stalling, forgot to bring mosquito repellent most nights, carrying the refreshments back to my car turned into a bit of a problem, and someone reversed into my car because it was dark and they didn't see it
But still, I loved going and do miss it, especially Thursday nights "full car $5" admittance night~ take 5 people it's a $1 each for 2 movies! But sitting
Just went to my Wayne Valley HS 40 Year Reunion and had a great time. AAA-BEH, WHOA!..AAA-BEH, WHOA!..KOO-AH-ZOW-AH-ZOW-AAAAH, AAARRRGGGHHH!!! ... It's what's happening, baby! ... OK, kids let's hear it for The Contenders doing ~~~ The Clock!

There was an incident in the '60s at a busy, rushed drive-in snack bar when a worker accidentally filled a cola dispenser with a similarly-colored brown liquid which turned out to be insecticide instead of Coke or Pepsi concentrate. Only a few people took a sip from their cups, but were poisoned regardless.
Not everything at the drive-in back in the old days was wonderful.
The difference is that we no longer respect each other. Seriously. We just don't care about each other. I mean, when's the last time you gave someone change at starbucks because they were short 25 cents or something? I'm just using that as an example.. I mean down in this part of the country, it's more common, but not in other places, like the Los Angeles, Baltimore, etc.
ANd today my mother and I sitll dress whereever we go..you should see us at Regal@La Habra, Orange County,Calif. Never without sweaters on..we look like we came out of years ago..
Ii think things made more sense back then why bother building a big arena of a place for movies when youd be much more comfortable in your own car where you feet dont stick to the ground and your car is as hot or cold as YOU or your date like it. you know how ladies get cold, sometimes i see alot of girls with jackets on in the theater. doesnt make sense and you dont have to share armrests | <that big with someone you dont know.plus you dont have to worry about finding seats for your whole group
This brings back great memories from many moons ago of my Father taking me and my Brother Bobby to the Totowa Drive-In on Route 46E in Totowa, NJ to see Yul Brenner in a colourful swashbuckler "THE BUCCANEER"...I also love "THE CONTENDERS" cut "THE CLOCK"...Super post!
What is it about DOO-WOP MUSIC that sends me on an emotional roller-coaster ride more breath-taking than a three minute amusement park ride? Unless we're talkin' `bout the Cyclone at Coney Island or Meteor at PAP. Yeeeah, when I hear that drum beat thunk, the Bass Man bomp, the Baritones blend with the Falsettos allowing the Tenor leadm to hit his mark ALL in perfect Harmony ~ DANG! `Tis 1957 again and I'm runnin' loose on cobblestone Conover ST. Red Hook, Brooklyn! Gee, I loved those Happy Days
Does anyone know if I can get a dvd with this video?
I checked a couple of the websites that advertised intermission clips but none were specific as to which intermission films were included. Does anyone know if there is a dvd with this particular piece on it? specifically the dancing food items
Oh yah, we got two or three left in Colorado. It's funny abecause before the itermission vidoes they show this whole sob story on how many drive-ins were closed down and how to keep ours alive. It's funny.
I have another lobby promo that I think is even older... perhaps from the 30's I can send it to you if you want. Also I fixed the sound on yours I can send that as well Perhaps MSN ??? Robert

@skeeteatter: It's obviously staged to a certain extent for the benefit of these promos. But, for the most part, you are correct IMO.

It's not bad, just as long you also don't forget to remember to live in the present.

All it needed at the end was the "And now, on with the show!" or such a sequence.

Yes I noted that myself. The video was made in the pre- You Tube days If made today it would of had an alternate ending.
