one question:
why type =C27=MAX($C$15,$C$21,$C$28), instead of "=MAX($C$15,$C$21,$C$28)"? why need =C27=?
cheers

=MAX($C$15,$C$21,$C$28 delivers a number.
=C27=MAX($C$15,$C$21,$C$28) delivers a TRUE or FALSE.
To apply formatting you need a formula that says: "yes this cell is the max".
