Less yield per acre, higher cost of production, thus its lucrative to offshore the manufacturing, more off-shoring of textile industries, thus more shipping, thus more fuel burned. Then if you want to get into specialty dying, there are very few cotton dyers left here in the states. Get where I'm coming from?
