i have a pair of abandoned baby pigeons..its hard to get the kaytee's formula or any readymade feeding formula in my country..could u suggest something i could prepare at home?
can someone tell me what is the formula that the lil pigeons can take when their moms or dads die or something???...i really want to know the name..if someone know please just sent me a menssage../
I like that syringe. I've been feeding mine from a paper cup. I poke a hole in the bottom of it, and they feed out of it like that guy is doing. Looks like he still gets a bunch of crap all over his beak.
In the past two weeks I have rescued two baby bird, One is a dove that's about 3 weeks old and then tonight I got baby pigeon whose probably less than a week old. How do I know when to give the Pigeon seed? Right now I feed it with a syringe when should I introduce another form of feeding to both of them? Help. I have only raise little birds before. Thank you
I know, you never see the babies! We have a nesting pair on our balcony at work, so we get to watch them grow up every now and then. This one was orphaned.
At first I fed them a mixture of milk and egg. Lateer I found that Kaytee Hand Feeding Formula is just about the perfect food. You can get it online, or at any good pet store.
im just using a syringe my pigeon opens his mouth and i just trigger it in its about 3 weeks old the other baby died 2 days ago was the smaller one but did alright up untill the night before was very sad
Absolutely, the syringe and balloon method is definitely a winner, but probably not for newborns. For newborns, the baby bottle nipple method is best. I have no idea who originally invented the syringe and balloon method...
Very interesting technique. What is it you are using on the end of the syringe? I just put a video up where I feed my pigeons but I use a regular syringe.
I cut off the end of the syringe and put a piece of balloon over the end (with a little X cut into the balloon for the beak to fit into. I'll go check out your video.
That's got to be one of the most precious things I've ever seen. Saw the link to your video on the Pigeon Talk forums, looking for information on caring for a baby dove I found. Looks like your idea with the syringe is a winner, I'm going to have to give that a try. Thanks so much for posting, it definitely gave me more confidence in caring for my little baby.
Cool, now i've learned a new technique. hehe

Wow wish you would give it some help by allowing a cat or a crow to eat it

Finally, never saw a baby pigion, always wondered what they looked like. As many as there are around, can't understand why I never see them.

@SunnyLorraine You never see baby pigions in the wild because the parents always keep them up in the nest until they're fully grown,
