Covenant Droppods are much cooler. and yest the ODST are the cloosest thing to a spartan and they are indeed maked for that kind of a impact. (becous sending your person in drop pods where they would die in isent smart is it :P)

The turret isnt supposed to shoot that fast: it has an energy shield.  Only the plasma turrets without energy shields are supposed to fire really fast.
