yeah I remember this one as a kid under the age 8, what memories. Anyone under the age of 15, that lived in the 70s as a kid, what a truly great time to live as a kid. Thanks for posting this.
@mstatz Or, you know, a more advanced society that refuses to assume (ass-u-me) that everyone does or should believe the same thing the same way, and actually wants to support that whole "separation between church and state" thing. Since PBS is both publicly supported and federally funded.
And before you complain about another "godless atheistic minority, " I'm writing this as a person of faith in the Christian tradition with many non-Christian and non-deist friends who are worthy of respect.

I used to beg my parents for a white mouse or rat whenever I saw this segment. Eventually I got gerbils. Actually, all the babies might have discouraged my parents from honoring my wish. :)
Thanks for the memories! I've had this song in my head since I first saw it as a kid. It was fun to sing along with it now that I'm grown up! Man, truer words were never sung! Now that I have a daughter, I can relate to the mice!
How absolutely sweet! Something about watching motherhood, no matter what species it is, just really touches me. I just love mice and other small animals. I've had mice and hamsters, and have had the wonderful experience of having at least two of my hamsters and one of my mice become mothers.
Do you have the one where it shows a baby chick hatching out of an egg? No words, just music. And at the end when the chick is out of the shell, a kazoo plays. I was wondering if anyone remembers this and if they have it, please post. Thanks again.
@33chiliken i thought this was the one cause it looked like it in the picture, i thought maybe it was about baby animals and the last part is the chick hatching, but i guess it's a clip of it's own, would love to see it again myself :)

Notice "the good Lord's own sweet way." You won't hear that nowadays. (Such is our world.)

I agree! It's so sad that the atheistic minority in this country imposes their Godless will on everyone else.
mstatz 2 years ago 3
Well, at least everyone can agree that the music is relaxing, especially after a long day. :)

seriously? dude, get a life. what would call 2000-2008?
terrytberry 2 years ago
@terrytberry I dunno, what would you call them?

Why is that sad? Free will is not sad. Freedom (preached by your "God") means freedom to think what you want. Come on. Smarten up.

Why ruin the thread of praise for a great song and memory with this stuff?

Hearing this song makes me feel to cry. To me it really shows the brevity of life. You are born and in a twinkling of an eye you are ready to die.

I'm surprised Harry Connick, Jr. hasn't covered this great tune. ;-D
