You can't compare Squaresoft to Square Enix. Squaresoft came out with a lot of games that i loved which were rich with story, characters, and combat. Square Enix is just some watered down piece of shit version of that.
Love this game's ost, but I think the boss batthe theme is kinda off, and the calm part of it kills the moment, when I fight a boss I like to feel pumped and shit, like a SaGa frontier song, or something like that.

@Arphix due to the copyright issues that would come with linking those two games, they are not related. If SE sells the xenogears copyright to monolith then you can be sure there will be a game that links those two games together. But as of now we can only consider them to be parallel universes or parodies of the other. Although it is possible that monolith might collaborate with SE in the future if they continue to make successful games like they have.

everything is great about this game except for one thing , on some areas the encounter rate goes psycho and you sometimes encounter an enemy once every less than 5 seconds, but the story kept me going and i couldn't let go of the game, best story in any rpg ever ever ever.

This was truly a piece of work as far as jrpgs go. Never have i seen a game since with such depth to a story, (about 2 hours straight on the second disc) yet awesome gameplay mechanics, one of a kind game from the square of old.
@Ilovemariofan Actually it does, but as bosses and monsters im positive, the characters there are awesome though and their is great BGM and The graphics are outstanding for a wii console, check it out.
Citan is still amongst the most epic characters ever.
I remember I had my best final boss battle ever playing this game. Citan was the only one left standing in a mech with like, 100hp (which is nothing for a mech) and had enoguh fuel for one last weak attack.. took down the boss with it. It was literally the last decisive blow, heh.

@donaldhole2007 Completely agreed! I can never seem to sell the concept of this game to any of my RPG playing friends. They take one look at the graphics, and decide to stick with their Dragon Age. It's hard to compare this game to others, because it is so much deeper than any rpg i've ever seen, and gets even harder with the fact that not many people have played it. I remember waking up at 4am to beat my older bro to the PS1, so i could play my save before he could play his, lol.

Too bad SE and who ever made Xzenosaga couldnt come to terms cause Xzenosaga is far from being original like Xzenogears. The Graphics werent all that by todays standards but this game was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo deep in story that it ranks as high as FF7 but this game was an underachiever due to its deep religious background it was built on. I still Have a my original PS and a mint copy of this game last time i heard if its in mint gamestop wanted 120usd for it.
@PsychoKungFu god yes! this is the best RPG game I have *ever* played, and I've played enough of them to know quite a bit. It has a storyline to rival many books, awesome sound, awesome characters, interesting battle systems and gameplay... Everything about it is amazing. It's very nearly perfect.

@catbuffalo it's just like when final fantasy VII rise and xenogears started to be forgotten and got left behind, even before it had any chance to be no.1 RPG... it's sales dropped and replaced by the shining "FF 7" that every one loved, FF 7 not xenogears.
and I think xenogears is best compared with xenosaga, because the story maker is the same... but xenogears is way better than xenosaga as an rpg, and yet xenosaga receive a really good score, just because of the graphics and flashy gameplay...
so how about xenogears with graphics equal to xenosaga or FF XIII? won't it replaced the love of FF into xenogears? people usually play one RPG at a time you know... and they will know what to choose
@Kaiserzel Well xenosaga score a 9.75 in game informer's mag. I don't think xenosaga is worse then xenogears or better since I haven't played xenogears yet... but I played xenosaga and it's freaking awesome! The story is not average since it's not your typical cliches young hero saving world type of story where the bad guys want to destory the world and blah blah.... but to each his own opinion.

If it was purely combat, then you should have no problem playing more contemporary RPGs like Lost Odyssey considering you love "classic rpg system". As for me, I play Xenogears not only because of the combat (Despite the fact that its perfect and hasn't been utilized in the subsequent titles) but the awesome story and sound. I don't need to love dated combat, I need to appreciate it while enjoying whatever comes next.
lost odyssey was a masterpiece too bad is an 360 exclusive.... and i love classic rpg, i love leveling up, manage every character and control their movements(attacks magic etc) ....that was inexistent on ff 13
@CloudStrifeZX You can manage how every character levels up in their six different roles in FFXIII. You could only control one's movements, but that was for compensation, otherwise the speed would have been bogged down tremendously. It fit the mechanics,so if you disliked FFXIII, its because of that, but it certainly wasn't bad by any means, nor a bad game. Just distinguished taste, and something different from the classics.

Final Fantasy XII sucked! Not because of the battle system, I was able to handle that. It was the story that made the game bad. Sentences that made no sense. Mispronounciations. Ugh. The parts of the story that actually made sense were just boring. Even the last part of the story in FF XII was lame. XII ruined the series. I probably won't get XIII because of how bad XII was.
You would be seriously missing out if you skip FF Versus 13. Very little has been shown or talked about it, but I have a feeling it'll be a good one. FF 13 doesn't look like it'll be that good, but I'll still give it at least one playthrough.

Never got to fully play/beat Xenogears.
It's my brothers favorite RPG.
Even though I was young at the time I could tell the story was beyond my grasp.

Too bad SE and who ever made Xzenosaga couldnt come to terms cause Xzenosaga is far from being original like Xzenogears. The Graphics werent all that by todays standards but this game was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo deep in story that it ranks as high as FF7 but this game was an underachiever due to its deep religious background it was built on. I still Have a my original PS and a mint copy of this game last time i heard if its in mint gamestop wanted 120usd for it.

@PsychoKungFu god yes! this is the best RPG game I have *ever* played, and I've played enough of them to know quite a bit. It has a storyline to rival many books, awesome sound, awesome characters, interesting battle systems and gameplay... Everything about it is amazing. It's very nearly perfect.

man do you know xenosaga? with mediocre story line like that they even scored 8,5 in gamespot... how about xenogears? they scored 9 previously (the ps one version), and if square remake the graphics of xenogears to fit PS3....
it will much more successful than FF XIII : )

@catbuffalo it's just like when final fantasy VII rise and xenogears started to be forgotten and got left behind, even before it had any chance to be no.1 RPG... it's sales dropped and replaced by the shining "FF 7" that every one loved, FF 7 not xenogears.

and I think xenogears is best compared with xenosaga, because the story maker is the same... but xenogears is way better than xenosaga as an rpg, and yet xenosaga receive a really good score, just because of the graphics and flashy gameplay...
so how about xenogears with graphics equal to xenosaga or FF XIII? won't it replaced the love of FF into xenogears? people usually play one RPG at a time you know... and they will know what to choose

@Kaiserzel Well xenosaga score a 9.75 in game informer's mag. I don't think xenosaga is worse then xenogears or better since I haven't played xenogears yet... but I played xenosaga and it's freaking awesome! The story is not average since it's not your typical cliches young hero saving world type of story where the bad guys want to destory the world and blah blah.... but to each his own opinion.

@Gamechild951 FFXIII is by far one of the worst games in the series. No amount of graphics or stifled gameplay can save it. I beat it, and I'm glad I finished it. Now on to a real great game, like FFIV The After Years.

The only new "innovation" that game had was it's group attacks, which were barely needed. Last I checked, the Combat System in FFXIII was critcally lauded (That means appraised). At least you know of the greatness that is FFVI, but that does little to amend the fact that you're just hating on a game...

If it was purely combat, then you should have no problem playing more contemporary RPGs like Lost Odyssey considering you love "classic rpg system". As for me, I play Xenogears not only because of the combat (Despite the fact that its perfect and hasn't been utilized in the subsequent titles) but the awesome story and sound. I don't need to love dated combat, I need to appreciate it while enjoying whatever comes next.

lost odyssey was a masterpiece too bad is an 360 exclusive.... and i love classic rpg, i love leveling up, manage every character and control their movements(attacks magic etc) ....that was inexistent on ff 13

@CloudStrifeZX You can manage how every character levels up in their six different roles in FFXIII. You could only control one's movements, but that was for compensation, otherwise the speed would have been bogged down tremendously. It fit the mechanics,so if you disliked FFXIII, its because of that, but it certainly wasn't bad by any means, nor a bad game. Just distinguished taste, and something different from the classics.

Final Fantasy XII sucked! Not because of the battle system, I was able to handle that. It was the story that made the game bad. Sentences that made no sense. Mispronounciations. Ugh. The parts of the story that actually made sense were just boring. Even the last part of the story in FF XII was lame. XII ruined the series. I probably won't get XIII because of how bad XII was.

You would be seriously missing out if you skip FF Versus 13. Very little has been shown or talked about it, but I have a feeling it'll be a good one. FF 13 doesn't look like it'll be that good, but I'll still give it at least one playthrough.
